Standouts In Indiana’s Regional Championships

Lafayette Central  Catholic quarterback Clark Barrett was lights out in the Knights’ regional win over Winamac. The junior gunslinger went 30 for 49, racking up 494 yards passing and 4 touchdowns to claim the regional title. Many believed the Knights would be in the position to defend their 2019 Class A state title. One more game, Barrett and company will get the chance to repeat. Under the radar senior wideout, Reid Schepers made frequent trips to the endzone on Friday night when three of his four catches made paydirt.  The Westfield Rocks won their class 6A regional title in convincing fashion defeating Homestead 42-9. [player_tooltip player_id="38953" first="Connor" last="Delp"]’s 55-yards on Friday night landed him atop Center Grove’s record books for receiving yards in a single season. The seniors’ 754 -yards season mark, ranks him number one on the leaderboard. The  Trojans were again dominant in their shutout win 39-0 over rival Warren Central, to claim their third consecutive regional. How many times have you heard the phrase "Vinatieri with the game-winning kick"? Except it wasn’t the future NFL Hall of Famer Adam Vinatieri putting the game it away. It was AJ, the longtime pro’s son, who is a junior kicker for the Zionsville Eagles. Vinatieri’s late-game heroics sealed the deal to advance the Eagles to the Class 5A  semifinal. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38992" first="James" last="Arnold"] led the South Adams Starfires to their first regional title since  2014 with his 6 touchdown performance. Five of those touchdowns came in the air to go along with his 435-yard passing performance.  Arnold was just as dangerous on the ground, averaging 8.8-yards a carry and reaching the endzone. The Starfires are looking to remain unbeaten when they head to Lafayette to take on the Central Knights in the Class A semifinal.
