Breaking down the 2021 class in Oregon, I would view the LB’s as the state’s strongest group by position, edging out a talented cast of offensive lineman. Six kids currently hold D1 offers with another 2-3 projecting at that level. Have a look.
[player_tooltip player_id="28696" first="Keith" last="Brown"] 6-1 220 Lebanon (Committed: Oregon) - Potentially one of the best LB’s ever to come out of the state. At one time ranked #1 nationwide for the class of 2021. Has looked outstanding on the camp circuit. The biggest question mark comes with level of play, and how that translates from 5A Oregon football to the PAC 12.
[player_tooltip player_id="28699" first="Patrick" last="Hisatake"] 6-5 235 Westview (Committed: Cal) - Hisatake looks the part and then some, but hasn’t had a ton of reps, and many question marks remain. From a productivity standpoint this a kid who could end up on either end of the spectrum in the Pac 12.
[player_tooltip player_id="28714" first="Colt" last="Musgrave"] 6-2 215 Bend (Committed: Idaho) - I’m a huge advocate of Musgrave. There isn’t much he can’t do from a pure athleticism standpoint. Coming from a football family and playing QB, he only had a couple games worth of film at linebacker. Look for Musgrave to be one of the best in the Big Sky and a potential Sunday guy.
[player_tooltip player_id="28712" first="Bryan" last="Cuthbertson"] 6-1 240 Sherwood (Offers: Portland St) - The reigning Pacific Conference Defensive POY and my favorite for Oregon 6A POY honors. It’s not a good week if you are the opposing RB heading into a game with the Bowmen. Hands down the hardest hitter in the state and an absolute monster on the defensive side of the ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="28716" first="Dyami" last="Rios"] 6-2 215 McNary (Offers: Idaho, Air Force, Army, Georgetown + Ivy’s) - Just a great kid and someone who will be successful at whatever he does in life. Dyami is super intelligent on and off the field (4.0) and separates himself with outstanding anticipation from his LB spot.
[player_tooltip player_id="28721" first="Jason" last="Davis"] 6-2 215 Jefferson (Offers: Arizona St) - Davis went off as a junior, earning 1st team all-league honors, while making 137 total tackles and 18 tackles for loss. His early offer from ASU speaks to his game, while still being somewhat raw.
[player_tooltip player_id="28788" first="Slade" last="Shufelt"] 6-3 220 Hillsboro- Shufelt is a multi-offer D1 kid who has looked phenomenal on the camp circuit over the off season. A 1st team all-league athlete last year, his stock has risen as much as any player in Oregon over the last few months.
[player_tooltip player_id="28743" first="Connor" last="Stevens"] 6-3 215 Sunset - This kid has the size, speed, and all of the tools to blow up with a good season. Expect a host of high-end academic universities to vie for his services.
[player_tooltip player_id="28730" first="Sabastian" last="Peffier"] 6-2 225 Scappoose- One of the leading candidates for 4A POY honors. Peiffer moves incredibly well showing off his overall athleticism at RB. Not a lot of people know about him playing small school football but he is legit.
[player_tooltip player_id="28758" first="Jacob" last="Smith"] 6-1 225 Central Catholic- One of the more underrated kids in the state. Smith plays with a junkyard dog type mentality and is someone the Rams will rely on, graduating a deep state championship class.
[player_tooltip player_id="28765" first="Riley" last="Keppel"] 6-3 200 Westview- Keppel had a nice junior season recording 6 sacks and 9 tackles for loss, while earning 2nd team All-Metro honors. He is long and has an ideal frame as an OLB at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="28772" first="Cole" last="Peters"] 5-9 185 West Linn- Peters won’t be a big time recruit due to size, but he will be a candidate for conference and state POY honors. Cole ranks as one of the state’s all-time best statistically with 245 total tackles and 31 tackles tackles for loss over the last two seasons.
