Putting these high-flying teams inside the friendly UNI-Dome always brings excitement.
Fremont-Mills, Don Bosco, Montezuma and Remsen St. Mary’s seek state glory, and here are the MVPs who helped get them through the quarterfinals.
Fremont-Mills 30, Anita-CAM 28
Seth Malcom Seth Malcom 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Fremont Mills | 2021 IA , Fremont-Mills (2021)
There is a reason Nebraska is taking Seth Malcom Seth Malcom 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Fremont Mills | 2021 IA across the board and he showed that in the quarterfinals.
Malcom led Fremont-Mills to a two-point victory by carrying the ball 41 times for 308 yards with two touchdowns. He also had a TD reception and made 5.5 tackles on defense.
Going from eight-player to Power 5 FBS is quite the jump, but Malcom appears ready to contribute for the Huskers in the very near future.
Don Bosco 42, Janesville 12
Cael Frost, Don Bosco (2021)
Nearly 200 yards passing and over 200 yards rushing was all Cael Frost did in the quarterfinals. The Don Bosco senior has been on a mission this year, and he continues to shine each week.
Frost completed 9 of 11 passes with a score, finding the end zone five times on 42 carries out of the spread for the Dons.
Much like the other QBs left in standing, Frost is just a talented athlete making the most of his abilities on the football field.
Montezuma 62, Easton Valley 35
Eddie Burgess, Montezuma (2022)
So much has already been said about Eddie Burgess, and not only do we have at least one more game, but another year to discuss him.
Burgess was at his best yet again in the quarters, throwing for 517 yards and seven touchdowns with 65 more yards and a score on the ground. This is as high-octane an offense as there is in the state regardless of class.
A standout basketball player, Burgess is just the best athlete when he steps on the football field each week. He is big, strong and has the am strength to throw it deep down the field.
Remsen St. Mary’s 42, Audubon 27
Blaine Harpeanu, Remsen St. Mary’s (2021)
The ground attack of Remsen St. Mary’s was too much for Audubon, and it might be too much for anybody else to handle.
Senior Blaine Harpeanu racked up 162 yards on the ground and balanced out the offense with 144 in the air and two touchdowns. Harpenau has a formidable backfield mate in Jeremy Koenck.
With his incredible speed and ability to read defenses, Harpeanu is quite the threat to take off or chuck it deep.
