The Bulldogs have gone through a number of coaching changes and it may be a trend that has possibly caught up with Fayetteville. However, head coach Casey Dick appears to have settled into the position and the 2021 season will be something to look forward to for Fayetteville fans.
Fayetteville opened up the 2020 season with five straight losses. However, the losses were not horrible losses. Fayetteville would lose to strong teams like Owasso out of Oklahoma, North Little Rock, and Conway. The Bulldogs would eventually right the ship against Fort Smith Southside.
Fayetteville would close the 2020 season on a roll. The Bulldogs would win three straight games against Springdale, Har-Ber, and Rogers Heritage. Fayetteville would play well enough to win against Little Rock Central in the opening round of the playoffs but lose a heartbreaker.
However, even with the quick exit in the 2020 state playoffs, the Fayetteville Bulldogs will have plenty to look forward to in 2021. The Bulldogs are going to have a talented quarterback-wide receiver duo that have the potential to have an excellent season for the Bulldogs in 2021.
Quarterback Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR hit his stride in a strong fashion to close out the 2020 season for Fayetteville. Fike passed for 1,779 yards. 15 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. Fike will return next season and he will have his favorite target Isaiah Sategna Isaiah Sategna 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR returning next season as well. Sategna possess elite speed to go along with precise routes. Sategna racked up 814 yards receiving and scored seven touchdowns receiving. The Fayetteville offense should be explosive next year with both Fike and Sategna likely being division one recruits.
As talented as the offensive side of the ball is for the Bulldogs, the defensive side of the ball is not lacking in talent. Linebacker Kaiden Turner Kaiden Turner 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR has numerous offers from schools such as Kansas State, Arkansas, and Houston. Turner racked up 69 tackles, three interceptions, and five and a half sacks this season. Turner has the potential to explode next season and the scholarship offers will likely follow suit.
The bottom line is that Fayetteville has the potential to be a state powerhouse next season. The Bulldogs are looking to bounce back from a few disappointing seasons in a row and they will have the potential on the team to really make some noise in the 7-A West. One thing the Bulldogs are never at a shortage of is talent. The work for 2021 starts today.
