Class 4A 2nd Round Preview: North Augusta at North Myrtle Beach

We’re down to four teams in the Class 4A Lower State playoffs, and that means a match-up between region champions is here. Region V-4A’s North Augusta (5-1 overall) heads to Little River to take on Region VI-4A champ North Myrtle Beach (7-0) on Friday in the second round. The winner will advance to Lower State finals. These four players are ones we’ll be keeping a close eye on this week. AUSTIN HARRELL, QB, NORTH AUGUSTA This offense actually runs the football more than you’d think given the initial yardage differences between the two schemes, but Harrell’s efficiency is a big reason why the passing situations have been so worthwhile. The 5-foot-10 junior has completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,498 yards and six touchdowns. MARRIUNTI BOYD, LB, NORTH AUGUSTA At 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, looks every bit like the prototypical linebacker. But a big reason the Yellow Jackets have limited opponents to fewer than 13 points per game in 2020 is because he produces like one, too. Boyd averages 10 tackles per game. He’s also put up three tackles for loss, three sacks, two deflected passes and a quarterback hurry. CHANDLER MCCALL, DB, NORTH MYRTLE BEACH A few weeks ago in a big win over rival Myrtle Beach, McCall was all over the field. And with a pass-happy offense like North Augusta coming to town, McCall is going to have opportunities to stand out again. He leads the Chiefs with four interceptions and he’s broken up three more. He’s also put up 27 tackles, which is third on the roster. NYLIEK LIVINGSTON, RB, NORTH MYRTLE BEACH Livingston isn’t just the player to watch from the North Myrtle Beach offense. He’s the guy everyone from both teams better have a great feel for early. All Livingston has done in the team’s first seven games is put up seven 100-yard games and eclipse the 1,000-yard mark overall. He’s averaging 8.7 yards per carry, and he’s a picture of consistency.
