As we continue our City Rankings project, we go to the big boys up front. Charlotte is loaded with offensive linemen, so narrowing down to 12 was difficult. That being said, here are the 12 best, in our opinion.
12. [player_tooltip player_id="28612" first="Nick" last="Aderholt"], 6’1 250, Weddington- Aderholt is a powerful blocker who plays above his weight, specifically as a run blocker. He excels when pulling and has room to grow in his understanding of the game. Part of back-to-back state championship teams, Aderholt has a lot of upside, especially when he puts on a bit more weight.
11. [player_tooltip player_id="28603" first="Andrew" last="Threatt"], 6’4 255, Metrolina Christian- Another smaller offensive lineman that excels in the run game, Threatt is one of the few guys on this list playing in the fall. The Navy commit has the frame to add weight (Though he probably won’t add much at the Naval Academy) and has been incredibly impressive this fall.
10. [player_tooltip player_id="28597" first="Gabriel" last="Palacios"], 6’3 305, Rocky River- Palacios is a big, powerful blocker that consistently moves defensive linemen on film. He plays tackle and guard for Rocky River, and I like him as a guard at the next level, where he can use his size and strength to bully defensive linemen.
9. [player_tooltip player_id="28566" first="Prestin" last="Hawkins"], 6’5 290, Hough- Hawkins started at right tackle on a talented Hough offense in 2019. He’s versatile enough to excel in both the running and passing games. An Akron commit, I think Hawkins should be able to take his game to the next level in the spring, should he decide to stay.
8. [player_tooltip player_id="28550" first="Greyson" last="Houchins"], 6’6 290, Hough- A Campbell commit, Houchins is a solid pass blocker, and displays good technique at left tackle. He’s big enough to move defensive linemen, but still athletic enough to pick up blitzing linebackers and defensive backs. If he plays this spring, he should have the opportunity to turn heads.
7. [player_tooltip player_id="44985" first="Connor" last="Drake"], 6’6 290, Providence- The youngest player on this list, Drake is already one of the better offensive linemen in the state. He’s extremely strong, with the ability to blow defensive linemen off the line. Despite being so young, he’s athletic enough to get to the second level and block linebackers and safeties.
