Baker Once Again Has Had A Special Season
Follow this program throughout the past 10 years and you will find talent, solid coaching and small community feel that lives and breathes what the Gators do on the field.
At the center of this 1A success story is Matt Brunson. After posting five straight Class 1A Final Four appearances, two state championship appearances and a 38-game win streak in the regular season, winning 100 games has put this impressive head coach in rare company.
In his 24 season as a head coach, Brunson has put up some impressive numbers – with over 200 wins.
What this year’s team has done is play smart football – and do it with discipline and talent – such as senior back Joe Brunson, who has gone over 1,500 yards rushing. Although Brunson rarely comes off the field, sophomore Kayleb Wagner has proven to be a bright future.
On defense, Jared Raybon, Brandon Moss and Ethan Edge have led the way on a unit that forces plenty of turnovers.
HOW THEY GOT TO 11-0
The Gators have been impressive all year in staying unbeaten – with wins over Pensacola Lighthouse Christian (35-12), South Walton (69-28), Taylor County (32-15), Jay (18-13), Freeport (34-8), Graceville (35-6), Sneads (26-25), Port St. Joe (39-7) and a 35-0 win over a quality Jay team on Friday night.
