We had a Saturday night matchup between Gateway and Woodland Hills. With the amount of talent both these teams have, this was more of a defensive battle than a shootout. Here are 7 players who stood out.
Gateway – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27561" first="Patrick" last="Body"]</strong> (JR) Defensive Back 6’2 183: Patrick showed some productivity on offense with 4 catches including scoring the 1<sup>st</sup> touchdown of the game mid-2<sup>nd</sup> quarter. Had at least a 20-yard reverse run that set up another touchdown. He also had an INT at the end of the 3<sup>rd</sup> quarter that would lead to a touchdown.
Gateway – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27188" first="Derrick" last="Davis"] Jr.</strong> (SR) Safety 6’1 185: Derrick did not have a much of a game on defense but provided stability in the running game with 94 yards and 1 touchdown. He was productive in the screen game early on with a total of 4 receptions for 63 yards.
Woodland Hills – <strong>Eris Seibles</strong> (JR) Running Back 5’10 176: Eric did not have a huge game but impressed me enough to make the list. He is someone teams should start to know. He has good vision with quickness and speed. Shows good jump cut ability. He had 22 carries for 72 yards.
Gateway – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27249" first="JT" last="Taylor"]</strong> (SR) Defensive End 6’1 240: JT was all around the backfield. He had 10 tackles including 2 sacks.
Gateway – <strong>Kelvon Nelson</strong> (SR) Running Back/Linebacker 6’0 245: Kelvon is a big dude that is pretty athletic and has good speed. He had a few carries including a 23-yard TD with 7:06 left in 4<sup>th</sup>. He also recorded a sack on defense.
Woodland Hills – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27685" first="Deontae" last="Williams"]</strong> (JR) Athlete 5’11 175: Deontae had a tough night but made some big plays to keep them in the game. He had 133 yards passing including a 62-yard touchdown. He also had 77 yards rushing, a lot of that came late 1<sup>st</sup> quarter in 1 play. Then he had a 26-yard TD run with 1:54 left in the game. He also converted two, 2-point conversions that made it a 5-point game.
Gateway – <strong>Diego Bledsoe</strong> (SR) Linebacker 5’11 230: Diego was all over the backfield disrupting the QB. Made some tackles. He has some quickness to him.
