The 2020 season is in full swing across the state of Oklahoma. And while the season gets going, recruiting is as important as ever. As of right now, Oklahoma’s 2021 class has 30 prospects currently committed. Lawton MacArthur standout [player_tooltip player_id="38532" first="Nasir" last="Kemper"] Committed To North Texas last week. The 2021 class appears to be deep, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Every Wednesday, we’ll spotlight five prospects that are still deciding their college futures.
[player_tooltip player_id="38519" first="Braeden" last="Winters"] - Linebacker - Bartlesville
The first of several linebacker prospects on this list is Bartlesville’s [player_tooltip player_id="38519" first="Braeden" last="Winters"]. Similar to the other linebackers that we’ll write about here, Winters plays both sides of the ball but we can’t help but enjoy what he brings to the defensive side of the ball as a heavy hitter. Winters has gotten off to a great start this season and has put up monster numbers on the defensive side. Winters has racked up tackles every week and is getting close to double digit sack numbers on the season. Winters is a can’t miss prospect at the linebacker position and his recruitment should pick up as his senior season continues. Winters is a big reason behind Bartlesville’s start to this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="38577" first="Bryant" last="Watts"] - Linebacker - Kingston
Another linebacker in the state’s senior class is [player_tooltip player_id="38577" first="Bryant" last="Watts"] from Kingston. While the other linebackers make an impact on the offensive side of the ball, Watts is an absolute terror on the defense for Kingston. Watts was one of the first players in the 2021 class to make an impact at the varsity level. Watts has been one of the top tacklers in the state year after year for several seasons now. Watts and Kingston have moved up to 3A this season and they haven’t missed a step so far. Watts and the Redskins will have a big test this week when they take on rival Sulphur. Watts is a huge reason why Kingston’s defense has been one of the best in 3A this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="38609" first="Caden" last="Harrell"] - Running Back/Linebacker - Cashion
Continuing the linebacker theme with our next prospect in Cashion senior [player_tooltip player_id="38609" first="Caden" last="Harrell"]. The Cashion standout is also an outstanding running back and all the things that make him a great linebacker make him one of the toughest backs to bring down. In fact, Harrell is coming off a game in which he ran for nearly 300 yards. However, the area that translates the most to the next level is his ability at the linebacker position Honestly, he could play both sides of the ball but we feel his highest ceiling is on defense. Harrell can cover a lot of ground in a hurry and as we’ve mentioned, he’s violent at the point of attack. Harrell is a linebacker prospect that had dominated from the moment he stepped on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id="38611" first="Jaden" last="Brown"] - Defensive Lineman - Booker T Washington
We get away from the linebacker position and move closer to the line of scrimmage with Booker T Washington defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id="38611" first="Jaden" last="Brown"]. The Hornet senior leads a very experienced and talented Hornet defense. On the line of scrimmage, Brown is an absolute terror up front but we also like his ability to be versatile. At the next level, he might need to move around to different spots on the line and we believe that he has the ability to succeed in that. Watching Brown in person, the biggest thing that jumps off the page is his leadership on and off the field. Brown is the verbal leader of not only this Hornet defense but the team overall. You get the full package with Brown.

[player_tooltip player_id="38550" first="Sanchez" last="Banks"] - Running Back - Broken Arrow
Our final prospect on this week’s Uncommitted Spotlight is our only offensive prospect. Broken Arrow senior [player_tooltip player_id="38550" first="Sanchez" last="Banks"] had a breakout season last year when the Tigers’ depth chart took shot after shot at the running back position. Banks stepped in and stepped up in a big way last season. He’s continued that this year, while splitting carries with one of the top overall prospects in the 2022 class in [player_tooltip player_id="38672" first="Maurion" last="Horn"]. While Horn is more of a home run hitter and outside runner, Banks is the running back that runs in between tackles and bullies defenders by lowering his shoulder. The duo is outstanding to watch and gives a bright spotlight on what Banks can be at the next level.
