[player_tooltip player_id="35635" first="Haven" last="Lysell"] is a junior deserving of multiple college looks his senior year. Smoky Valley fell hard to undefeated Southeast Saline 53-8 on October 16.
Here is a scouting report on the young Vikings who contributed against a potent Trojans offense.
Four Stars of The Game
LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35635" first="Haven" last="Lysell"], 6’4”, 200 (’22 Ranked No. 96) – Lysell an inside linebacker had seven tackles for Smoky Valley in the loss. He is very fast and if he adds some muscle and weight could play at a defensive end. College coaches are also looking at him to play tight end, but the Vikings don’t throw the ball enough to give scouts much of a look. The junior is fast enough to be a dangerous threat off a blitz and can also run-down ball carriers from the backside of the play. He needs to get stronger over the offseason to improve his stock. Right now he projects as an NAIA type player.
LB, Kort Sjogren, 6’1”, 190 – Sjogren hits harder than Lysell but is not quite as fast. The senior finished with eight tackles in his last regular-season home game. He is a leader on defense and knows how to finish tackles. He could be a nice addition to in-state JUCO program looking to fill immediate special teams and linebacker holes.
LB, Austin Sharp, 5’9”, 175 – Sharp, just a sophomore, might have the biggest upside of any player on the Vikings roster. He has an athletic frame and a nose for the football. He had six tackles and a fumble recovery for Smoky Valley. He just appears to be a guy who likes to play and hit. He will be a member of the Class of 2023 to watch moving forward.
