Texas Sleepers: Offense

<em><strong>QB: [player_tooltip player_id="60588" first="Colton" last="Marwill"], Tomball Memorial, SR</strong></em> This guy is like Houdini in the pocket and can escape just about every rush situation imaginable. He does a good job keeping his eyes downfield and will square his shoulders when throwing on the run.  At 5’11, he isn’t the tallest QB on the market, but the kid has a ton of ability and in today’s wide-open spread offense, I think he’ll excel at the collegiate level. <em><strong>RB: [player_tooltip player_id="60565" first="Demetris" last="Gardner-Holmes"], SR</strong></em> Demetris’ best trait in my eyes is his contact balance. He has the ability to bounce off tacklers just when it seems likes defenders have him in their grasp. He does a good job of putting his foot in the ground once he sees a hole and accelerating through it. He has soft hands out of the backfield and can make you pay in the receiving game. Right now, he holds an offer from Texas Southern, look for him to pick up more interest with a big senior year. <em><strong>TE: [player_tooltip player_id="60452" first="Jacob" last="Bowersock"], Timber Creek, SR</strong></em> A ferocious blocker, who plays with great knee bend and an even better knee drive. He will go from whistle to whistle and will burry whoever lines up in front of him. He’s a major threat in the redzone and is not afraid to go up and get the ball in traffic. No offers yet, so keep an eye on this kid! <em><strong>RB: AJ McDade, Harlan, SR</strong></em> This kid was an absolute load in 2019, rushing for 1,908 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s extremely shifty and a nightmare to bring down in the open field. He’s got good straight-line speed, clocking in at a 4.49 40 yard dash, and can run away from opposing defenders. Go watch this kids tape, he’s an FBS type talent still waiting on his first offer. <strong><em>QB: [player_tooltip player_id="60579" first="Mikey" last="Serrano"], Midland Lee, SR</em></strong> In 2019, Serrano put up video game-like numbers, throwing for 3735 yards and 48 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions. On-film, he’s got a rocket arm, and can effortlessly drop the deep ball into the wide receivers breadbasket. The ball jumps out of his hand on intermediate throws and hits his targets in stride. Serrano has good top-end speed and can create a chunk play with his legs. Right now, he only holds one Division two offer, which to me is quite puzzling. More could be coming soon. <em><strong>WR: [player_tooltip player_id="60566" first="Nick" last="Darcus"], Rider, SR</strong></em> An absolute blazer who has the speed to outrun angles. Darcus is explosive, working out of the slot, and can turn a small gain into a big one at any time. It wasn’t uncommon on film to see him take a bubble 80 yards to the house. Darcus is a special talent, who only holds one offer from Missouri state. I’d be shocked if an FBS school didn’t come in and try to acquire his services.
