The Shore Conference has some of the best sports in the state. That is continuing during football season here in 2020. Week 3 will have some elite matchups. Here are the main ones to keep an eye on this week.
<strong>Rumson-Fair Haven at Red Bank Catholic</strong>
This is the biggest matchup in the Shore this week. It takes place when a top 10 team in the state in Rumson hits the road to take on Red Bank Catholic. Both powerhouses will have something to prove in this one. The Caseys are coming off a loss in Week 2 and will look to rebound at home.
<strong>Middletown South at Mater Dei</strong>
This Saturday matchup is bound to be exciting. Mater Dei was stifled in Week 1 against Red Bank Catholic with a 10-3loss but bounced back against Middletown North. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="28007" first="Alex" last="Brown"] will look to win with his arm in this one. Middletown South picked up a win over the Caseys last week. They are a talented team looking for their second straight huge win.
<strong>Toms River South at Donovan Catholic</strong>
Donovan Catholic is averaging 44.5 points per game this season behind Jahdir Loftland, who has scored five touchdowns through two games. They are dominating so far this season and will look to continue against Toms River South.
<strong>Southern at Toms River North</strong>
Toms River North bounced back with a win in Week 2 after an opening loss to Toms River South. [player_tooltip player_id="27936" first="Jake" last="Kazanowsky"] will look to defend home field in this one against a 2-0 Southern squad. Southern took down Brick Memorial and Brick Township over the first two weeks with junior [player_tooltip player_id="28012" first="Jaiden" last="Brown"] scoring five times.
<strong>Central Regional at Barnegat</strong>
Who will win along the lines? This game will be completely played in the trenches and it will be a hard nosed football game. These are two teams that like to run the football and will look to establish early and often.
