The biggest upset of Week 3 came down the shore, as Red Bank Catholic defeated No. 7 Rumson-Fair Haven, 21-14, on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Red Bank Catholic (2-1) capitalized on a pair of touchdown runs and an interception return for a touchdown.
For the Caseys, Robert Stolfa scored on an 8-yard run, Anthony Borriello found the end zone from 2 yards out and Najih Rahman had a 30-yard interception for a score.
Rumson-Fair Haven (2-1) scored on a 56-yard run from John Volker on the first play from scrimmage and a 2-yard run from Von Factor.
Volker rushed for 163 yards on 26 carries for the Bulldogs. Rumson quarterback Josh Harmon threw three interceptions.
Jack Kelly and Charles Moriarity finished with sacks for Rumson. [player_tooltip player_id="27895" first="Ryan" last="Ruane"] recovered a fumble for the No. 7 team.
For RBC, [player_tooltip player_id="27967" first="Alex" last="Bauman"] made three receptions for 65 yards. Defensively, Daniel Brewton made eight tackles and recovered a fumble and Brandon Loria and [player_tooltip player_id="28056" first="Joe" last="Diorio"] had interceptions in addition to Rahman’s pick-six.
The game featured six turnovers and 11 punts overall, as both defenses were able to make plays.
Rumson-Fair Haven will look to rebound against Middletown South Friday night. Red Bank Catholic takes on Middletown North in Week 4.
