ROCK HILL, S.C. - Northwestern led 21-0 in the second quarter and it looked like they would run away with the contest for the second straight game that Prep Redzone SC has scouted the Trojans.
But the Rock Hill Bearcats would not go away quietly as they fought back in the second quarter to make it 21-14 Northwestern at the half, but the Trojans pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 35-21.
Let’s get into the offensive standouts from Friday’s contest:
Northwestern
2022 WR Christian Watkins (5’7, 145 lbs.) - Out of the short two games that PRZ SC has covered, it’s clear the Trojans have a weapon in this young man here. He was a matchup problem for the Bearcat defense and effective in the quick game catching slants and one long slip screen which he took to the house in the third quarter. Keep your eye on this young man.
Northwestern head coach Page Wofford on Watkins: “He’s a focal point. He’s a guy, you know? He can go make the plays. When he catches the ball, he’s dangerous so we gotta find ways to get him space. That’s what we tried to do. His partners did a good job blocking for him on called passes to him and he got himself open on other called passes so, it was a joy to see it come to fruition and to see (2022 Northwestern QB) Will (Mattison) have the night he had but it doesn’t surprise me because we work on it every week in practice.”
2022 QB Will Mattison (6’4, 186 lbs.) - Mattison put the ball where it needed to be and had a good zip on it as well. He threw for well over 300 yards and would’ve had more if it weren’t for some drops. Whether it was short to intermediate throws, he got the offense down the field.
Rock Hill
2021 TE [player_tooltip player_id="59296" first="Robbie" last="Ouzts"] (6’4, 244 lbs.) - The Alabama commit made plays in space on several screen passes, including one in the second quarter which set up a touchdown to get the Bearcats back in the game. He was an effective weapon in taking advantage of Northwestern’s aggressive defense, He was even used on an inside run play.
2021 WR/RB Cam Walker (5’11, 170 lbs.) - The Bearcats used him as a running back for the majority of the night and he was shifty and quick on outside zone plays when he was able to get into space against the Trojans and got into the end zone twice in the losing effort.

Other note of interest:
Northwestern 2021 WR Jamareon Johnson climbed the ladder to make a great 16-yard TD catch to make it 21-0 midway in the second quarter. Kyle Aldridge also had a physical TD run to put the Trojans up comfortably in the fourth quarter.
Rock Hill 2021 QB [player_tooltip player_id="59415" first="Jackson" last="Roberson"] made one throw down near the goal line that was covered well but the receiver brought down the catch.
