We've renamed our weekly segment to Dakotas Dogs of the Week. Why? Everyone has game balls, players of the week, stories about the best guys, but we wanted our twist to it! Take a look at seven names that were some of the best prospects that the Dakotas had to offer in Week 7 as the season winds down.
[player_tooltip player_id="56447" first="Jacob" last="Knuth"], QB, Harrisburg
The Stat Line: 18-30, 355 yards, 5 TDs.
Eval: Talk about a player that gets everyone involved. Knuth and the Tigers won a shootout that, in the end, went to Harrisburg in Week 7. His ability to turn nothing there type plays into something either with his legs or giving him the right angle to get the ball to one of his key receivers in Ethyn Rollinger, Carter Bahrenfuss, and others make this kid one of the Dakota's best quarterbacks and put him on the Dakotas Dogs of the Week for week 7.

[player_tooltip player_id="56433" first="Kaden" last="Phillips"], RB/CB, Sturgis Brown
The Stat Line: 4 total TDs (3 receiving, one passing) 1 interception.
Eval: After the Sturgis Scoopers started 0-3, they now have won 3 of their last four, and a lot of that has to do with the connection between Owen Cass and ATH Kaden Phillips. Cass threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns in a big win over Mitchell in which Phillips accounted for approx. 66% of the Scoopers scoring with four total TDs. Phillips offers so many different skill sets as a safety, wide receiver, and punt returner, and I think I would best be suited at the next level as a defensive back as that is where I see he is the most comfortable on film.

[player_tooltip player_id="56279" first="Corbin" last="Sohler"], ATH, Yankton
The Stat Line: 14 rushes, 78 yards (up the middle), two receptions, 52 yards
Eval: When I miss on a player, I always will admit fault, and Corbin Sohler is one I will admit that on. He has a terrific vision in between the tackles and is a shifty back that will make yards you didn't even know you could get. Most prospects like to find a gap and bounce to the outside, but that's not Sohler, who feeds his game off contact! Watching back his tape against Huron last week, you see a kid that is just consistent between the tackles vs. breaking a big gain and then getting cut for a short loss, which Sohler will get you 8-14 yards on the bulk of his runs.

[player_tooltip player_id="56512" first="Isaiah" last="Huus"], RB, Bismarck
Stat Line: 250+ yards rushing, 3 TDs.
Eval: Huus had a big game running the ball against Minot in Week 7. I like Huus's film because he can burst out of contact and run for a big one. He has a big frame at 6'0 over 200 pounds, and as just a junior should be another running back prospect to watch out of Bismarck. Huus needs a little development from on his reads inside but has a shift to improve his stock.
Junior Tape Game 1-5
Leighton Weber, RB, Faulkner Area
The Stat Line: 305 rushing yards, 5 TDs
Eval: I couldn't get a good read on Weber due to the lack of film. However, based on the information I do have, Weber is a playmaker because whenever you can accumulate that amount of yards and touchdowns in a game to get your team to 500. and now the top-ranked 3-3 in 9B, you are doing something right!
No Tape.
Cayden Eisemann, QB, Mobridge-Pollock
The Stat Line: 266 passing yards, seven total TDs
Eval: With Eiseman, you not only a kid with a big arm that can sling it aways, but you have some that can read defenses well and will make a big run whenever needed. Eiseman's main target is ranked prospect Braden Goehring who also had a hot week last week against Redfield with a trio of receiving touchdowns. 11B playoffs should be fun when they compete with Bridgewater-Emery-Ethan and Winner for the top spot in 11B.

[player_tooltip player_id="56280" first="Tyce" last="Ortman"], ATH, Caniisota-Freeman
The Stat Line: Over 140 total yards, Punt Return, 4 Total TDs
Eval: Ortman is a "do it all" type player for Canisota-Freeman. As far as the next level, I think Ortman could be a fantastic defensive back for a college program. The kid has many great moves and quirks in his runs as a running back but watching him tackle, watching him disturb an offense's game flow makes us think DB might be the best one position fit. Ortman could be one that plays both ways, as he's so versatile he could be a great slot back and effective in the return game. He's won two state titles; can he win a 3rd?! Has a challenging game against Hanson this week that recorded their first loss of the year last week against Viborg-Hurley 34-26.
