Myles Purchase commits to Iowa State

The top two defensive backs at Cherry Creek are now committed to play FBS level football next year. First was and his verbal commit to Wisconsin. His fellow cornerback is also planning to play at a BCS conference school in college. announced his plans to play football at Iowa State on Saturday, Oct. 31, in a special ceremony with the Cherry Creek Sports Network airing the commitment live on YouTube. Multiple schools sent offers to Purchase and he had a full list to choose from. At his ceremony, he had hats from Iowa State, Kansas State, Wyoming and Tulane to choose from as his final selection.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback has shown the ability to run with receivers in man coverage and giving quarterbacks little room to throw the ball in his direction. He is just as effective in zone coverage reading the quarterbacks eyes and understanding route concepts to jump on routes and breakup passes. In his third season as a starter, he has compiled over 100 tackles and 11 interceptions so far for Cherry Creek while helping the Bruins win the state title last year. In addition to his defensive skills, Purchase has also been one of the top return specialists in the state of Colorado. He has over 1,500 return yards on kickoffs and punts combined, and he has scored multiple touchdowns that have helped swing momentum to his team. It’s a role he could be suited for at Iowa State. Purchase joins Pine Creek defensive back in committing to Iowa State. He is also the fourth player for Cherry Creek that is committed to play football at the FBS level so far.
