On Thursday, I made the just under three-hour drive to Brownsburg, Indiana. I had never been to Brownsburg High School, but I was very familiar with their football program. Coach John Hart has built a powerhouse in the suburbs of Indianapolis, equipped with some of not only the best facilities in the country but also an elite group of talent. Currently, they sit at 6-1, with their only loss a 43-42 heartbreaker to Westfield. However, the Bulldogs have rebounded since then and have State Championship aspirations. With the talent they have, it’s certainly within reach. Here’s who stood out from yesterday’s practice.
Offense QB: [player_tooltip player_id="38919" first="Ben" last="Easters"], SR When you look at Easters, I think one of his best traits has to be his leadership ability. All practice long he took control of the offense and was the clear leader amongst the group. He showed good footwork in the pocket and was clearly in sync with his wideouts. He'll be a great fit at Kansas. WR: [player_tooltip player_id="38907" first="Preston" last="Terrell"], SR Purdue got a good one in Terrell. He’s got nice size at 6’3, 190, and is put together for a high school kid. He shows great burst of the ball, to go with top-end speed to run by you. Coach Hart told me Terrell may be the first full-time two-way player he’s had, which is saying something. WR: [player_tooltip player_id="38988" first="Luke" last="Lacey"], SR This kid is a major sleeper and is having himself a heck of a senior season. He’s a fantastic route runner who knows how to get defenders to open up their hips early. He catches just about everything and has explosive cutting ability. He holds a few Ivy League offers and I wouldn’t be shocked if more schools came in on him late. OL: Santana Alo-Tupuola, FR Santana is as tough as they come and plays downright nasty. The fact that he’s playing varsity as a freshman on one of the top teams in Indiana is a feat in itself. He plays guard right now, and I think that’s where he’ll play at the next level. I could also see him possibly kicking down as a center as well. Regardless, the kid has Power-Five type ability. OL: Josh Sales, SR This is a massive offensive tackle prospect at 6’6, 280. He’s put together for a high school offensive lineman and had an impressive vertical stature. He showed good footwork and a heavy punch. Sales had Florida State come in on him late, but he wouldn’t budge and has remained loyal to his current commitment to Indiana. OL: [player_tooltip player_id="38930" first="Pete" last="Nygra"], SR This Northern Illinois Huskie commit moves well for a big man and can easily reach five techniques. He’s got a frame he can add size to and should be a nice fit for Northern. His best trait has to be his versatility, he has experience lining up at all three spots on the offensive line and has played extremely well at each. OL: Preston Jarvis, SO He may not be the biggest kid on the field, but man can this kid play. Jones is physical and will manhandle guys fifty pounds heavier than him. He’ll do whatever you ask on the field and will play through the whistle every down. He could end up being a steal for someone. TE: Leighton Jones, SO Jones is just a sophomore, but from a size perspective, he already looks like a college tight end. He’s put together at 6’4, 250, and will bury defenders as a blocker. I’m shocked he still hasn’t picked anything up, as he has FBS type ability.
Defense DL: Tony Tupuola Alo, SR Tony is as quick off the ball as they come. He can defeat blocks with just his speed, which is not an easy task. He’s not a huge defensive tackle prospect, but the ability is certainly there. He has the strength to mix in a bull rush and can defeat blocks in multiple different ways. DL: Jayden Jackson, FR The sky is the limit for this young man. Just a freshman, but here’s another talented prospect whos already on varsity. He’s got good size and strength at 6’2, 260, and is a solid hand fighter. His best football is ahead of him and I think Jayden could be a high FBS kid when it’s all said and done. DL: Maunaloakelani Jackson, SR I’ll be honest, I do not know how to pronounce this name, but I do know this kid can flat-out play. Jackson has a punch that has some serious pop to it. He can put his hand in the dirt or work as a stand-up five-technique and will get the job done. He plays with an extremely high motor and will run through tackles. DL: Isaiah Street, JR Sreet is an extremely twitchy pass rusher who can easily collapse the pocket and has the speed to chase plays down from the backside. He needs to add some weight, but from a talent perspective this kid has FBS ability. He’s long at 6’5, athletic and could potentially play as a standup 3-4 OLB at the next level. LB: Jalen Wilson, SR Not on many people’s radar, but he should be. He’s got tremendous burst and speeds his feet on contact. Coach Hart spoke very highly of Jalen and his overall ability. He could easily play at the Division two-level and I think he may even fit in at an FCS school. DB: Rashon Myles, JR I would not want to run across the middle with this kid bearing down. Rashon is a thumper, with good size and instincts for a safety. He’s a true sideline to sideline runner who never gives up on a play. He also can add another dimension in the kick return game as well. I think when it's all said and done he should be a Division one kid. DB: Kalen Carroll, JR This is a long cornerback prospect with great straight-line speed. He’s got a smooth backpedal and long arms he uses on his off-hand jam. Kalen recently picked up two FBS offers and my guess more are coming. With the mixture of his size and speed, I think he’s a no-brainer Power-Five kid.
Other Names to Watch RB: [player_tooltip player_id="39066" first="Caleb" last="Marcus"], SO OL: Kanon Kelley, SR DL: Carl Biddings, JR K: Spencer Porath, FR
