There are multiple undefeated teams left in Classes 3A-1A heading into Week Six. Teams are working hard to solidify their district seeding and insure a home game for the first round of playoffs.
Here is a scouting report and preview of the significant district matchups and players who have the opportunity to post big offensive numbers.
<strong>Class 3A</strong>
<strong>Columbus (7-0) at Caney Valley (6-1)</strong>
Running back <strong>Gabe Martin</strong> is having an outstanding season for the Titans. He has rushed for 954 yards and scored nine touchdowns in the running game. <strong>Trent Smith</strong>, a junior linebacker leads Columbus in tackles with 57. Columbus is coming off a 38-20 victory over Parsons.
<strong>Andale (6-0) at Wichita Collegiate (6-0)</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35508" first="Jacob" last="Chugg"]</strong> is coming off a 100-yard receiving game for Wichita Collegiate. Chugg also had 85 yards rushing and finished with three offensive touchdowns in a 33-0 win over Halstead. Quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35662" first="Wesley" last="Fair"]</strong> will look to continue his stellar offensive season. Fair threw for 157 yards and rushed for 109 against Halstead.
<strong>Class 2A</strong>
<strong>Beloit (2-4) at Hoisington (7-0)</strong>
Hoisington looks to finish the regular season with an undefeated record and have been successful getting offensive production from multiple sources. Senior running back <strong>Holt Hanzlick</strong> rushed for 106 yards in a 33-6 win over Norton in Week Seven. He has rushed for 561 yards and eight touchdowns in 2020. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35481" first="Joshua" last="Ball"]</strong>, another senior back, leads the Cardinals in rushing with 573 yards and nine touchdowns.
<strong>Garden Plain (6-1) at Leon-Bluestem (0-6)</strong>
Linebacker <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35504" first="Anthony" last="Hays"]</strong> lead a Garden Plain defense that has shutout opponents twice this season. Hays has 76 tackles so far in 2020. Another senior, <strong>Tranden Dearr</strong> has amassed 46 tackles for the Owls who will look to finish the regular season strong against Leon-Bluestem.
<strong>Class 1A</strong>
<strong>Smith Center (5-1) at Inman (6-1)</strong>
Inman has an explosive offense led by junior quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35611" first="Jace" last="Doerksen"]</strong>. Doerksen has thrown for 1,114 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Teutons. The Inman quarterback distributes the ball to several players. Ten different Teutons have caught passes and seven have caught touchdowns. Doerksen’s favorite target is senior <strong>Derick Johnson</strong> who has caught 14 balls for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
