Southwest Florida is really an under-the-radar area in this state – and with prospects like J.J. Dervil (Naples Lely), Daveon Palmer (Fort Myers Dunbar), Kendrick Raphael (Naples), Landon Reed (Community School of Naples – PICTURED) and Carson Vetor (Naples Gulf Coast), you can see the talent.
The best thing about each and every week when it comes to football is getting the chance to watch some of the emerging stars.
With the pandemic and the late start to the season for some, jumping on the radar screen has been a priority this year – and one of the areas taking full advantage is Southwest Florida.

This season – with half of the games played – there are some tremendous football players doing some special things.
Today, we bring you five of them:
2021 - J.J. Dervil, QB, Naples Lely. The senior, who has been on the radar in the past, is certainly someone that is being watched closely, and his stats along with overall performance is tough to ignore. Recently, this gifted young man accounted for 388 yards of total offense – 242 passing, 146 rushing – as well as four total touchdowns – two passing in a game against Naples Gulf Coast.

2022 - Daveon Palmer, QB, Fort Myers Dunbar. Remains one of the quality underclassmen that we have in this state, for now, and into the future. His leadership and talent have been huge for this standout. Recently, he was 17-of-28 passing for 197 yards and two touchdowns in a win. He has two full years to continue to turn heads.

2023 - Kendrick Raphael, Naples. As this program continues to add pieces and find chemistry, there are going to use everyone available who can continue to elevate this program. Has already proven that he can play at this level – with 151 all-purpose yards, scoring a touchdown on the ground and returning a kick for a touchdown in a win.

2021 - Landon Reed, RB, Community School of Naples. Another of the seniors who truly needed a boost into his final season at the high school level, and so far, things have looked extremely promising. In a game against St. John Neumann, he rushed for 150 yards and scored two touchdowns. Needs to continue doing what has worked and colleges will find out.

2021 - Carson Vetor, WR, Naples Gulf Coast. Here is a program that seems to be elevating prospects like this every year – and what this senior has done already is made believers out of a lot who follow this game. Had a huge game recently when he had 10 catches for 170 yards and four touchdowns in a win.
