There are multiple undefeated teams left in Classes 3A-1A heading into Week Six. Teams are working hard to solidify their district seeding and insure a home game for the first round of playoffs.
Here is a scouting report and preview of the significant district matchups and players who have the opportunity to post big offensive numbers.
<strong>Class 3A</strong>
<strong>Halstead (2-3) at Hesston (3-2)</strong>
Halstead quarterback <strong>Lakin Farmer </strong>is one of the top running QBs in Class 3A. The senior has 910 rushing yards on the season and has scored 10 touchdowns on the ground. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35476" first="Doug" last="Grider"] (’21 Ranked No. 167)</strong>, a senior middle linebacker, leads the Dragons in tackles with 72. Both athletes are JUCO college prospects. Farmer could project better as a free safety at the next level.
<strong>Santa Fe Trail (2-3) at Hayden (4-1)</strong>
Hayden is coming off a 43-6 victory over Osawatomie. Senior running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49773" first="Desmond" last="Purnell"] (’21 Ranked No. 294) </strong>is posting fantastic offense numbers for the Wildcats. He totaled 374 yards rushing and 310 yards receiving. He also has 12 offensive touchdowns and a special teams touchdown. Purnell has multiple Junior College offers to play football, but it’s not too late for four-year programs to jump in on his recruitment.
<strong>Class 2A</strong>
<strong>Garden Plain (4-1) at Kingman (4-1)</strong>
Running back <strong>Reed Adelhardt </strong>has been playing really well for Garden Plain. He has 493 yards rushing on the season and has rushed for four touchdowns. At 6’1”, 180 pounds, Adelhardt has a football frame and is a team leader. He is just a junior and should continue to improve his skills and could become a high-end in-state recruit. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35504" first="Anthony" last="Hays"] (’21 Ranked No. 226)</strong>, a senior linebacker leads the Owls with 58 tackles ranking him among the state leaders in Class 2A.
<strong>Maur Hill Prep (5-0) at Nemaha Central (3-2</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49696" first="Andrew" last="Schwinn"] (’21 Ranked No. 102)</strong> could break all kinds of program records in 2020. In five games he has rushed for 1,002 yards and scored 15 times on the ground. He has multiple college offers including one from Carleton College. He has been clocked with a 4.6 laser-verified 40 speed.
<strong> </strong><strong>Class 1A</strong>
<strong>Lyndon (4-1) at Central Heights (3-1)</strong>
Lyndon’s defense has been stingy this season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35514" first="Beau" last="Baker"]</strong> (’21 Ranked No. 236) is one of three Tigers with 30-plus tackles through five contests. The senior defensive lineman trails teammates <strong>Dustin Tobler</strong> and <strong>Trey Bazil</strong> who have 36 and 34 tackles respectively. Lyndon will have its work cut out for it in
