We’ve updated our prospect rankings for the 2021 class here in Oklahoma. You can now check out the top 150 seniors in Oklahoma. Continuing today, we’ll have more breakdowns on some of those top seniors in the state. This post will take a look at five of the best offensive linemen in the current senior class.
[player_tooltip player_id="38504" first="Dillon" last="Gilbert"] - Owasso
Owasso has a lengthy winning streak and they’re currently the favorites to win yet another state championship. Leading the way up front is Air Force commit [player_tooltip player_id="38504" first="Dillon" last="Gilbert"]. The Rams appear to be the favorites in 6A-D1 and a big reason why is how balanced the offense has become. The passing attack is on point, the Rams feature several different running backs in the backfield as well. And in front of it all is Gilbert, leading an O-Line that certainly had some holes to fill coming into the season. But Gilbert has been one of the leaders on this offense to get everyone else up to speed. The strength that Gilbert plays with is hard to match or contend with, making him one of the top at his position.
[player_tooltip player_id="38515" first="Garret" last="Humann"] - Westmoore
Westmoore’s [player_tooltip player_id="38515" first="Garret" last="Humann"] is a perfect example of how deep this 2021 class is. He’s just outside of the Top 40 in our recent ranking update and in most years he would be a Top 30 prospect. And because of that, Humann has to be considered one of the more underrated prospects in this 2021 class. When it comes to the O-Line position, Humann is one of our favorite prospects to watch. After talking with him this offseason and watching the way he plays. He plays the game exactly how he says he does. With an extremely physical nature and he wants to punish opponents. That’s exactly what you want from your offensive linemen and Humann has that trait down.
[player_tooltip player_id="38513" first="Lance" last="Petermann"] - Stillwater
Joining Gilbert at the Air Force Academy is another top OL prospect in Stillwater’s [player_tooltip player_id="38513" first="Lance" last="Petermann"]. The Pioneer big man came into 2020 expecting to have a big season and you can’t argue the results. Petermann led an O-Line unit at Stillwater that returned all of their starters from last year. He’s helped anchor a line that has helped pave the way for star running back [player_tooltip player_id="38521" first="Qwontrel" last="Walker"] to continue his climb up the all time rushing list. We like Petermann’s game and the fact that he is at his best against the toughest competition. Granted, you can say that for a lot of the players on Stillwater as they have turned into an absolute monster over the last few seasons.
[player_tooltip player_id="38493" first="Logan" last="Nobles"] - Jenks
The top prospect in the 2021 O-Line class is Jenks tackle [player_tooltip player_id="38493" first="Logan" last="Nobles"], who committed to Oklahoma State over the summer. Nobles is an absolute mountain of a man and as he continues to fill out, he’ll be an even better tackle prospect. Nobles is an absolute monster when he’s blocking straight ahead. When it comes to run blocking, he shows why he’s one of the top overall prospects in the class because he never gets beat and just bullies opponents backwards. He’s continuing to get better and better in his pass protection sets. As he’s gotten bigger, he’s continued to have quick feet which is a scary idea for what he could end up being a few years from now.
[player_tooltip player_id="38510" first="Melvin" last="Swindle"] - Heritage Hall
If we had a short list of the top available prospects in the 2021 class, Heritage Hall’s [player_tooltip player_id="38510" first="Melvin" last="Swindle"] would be at or near the top. Swindle has been a versatile athlete along both sides of the line of scrimmage. He’s shown his abilities at various positions on offense and has also shown off his ability along the defensive line. However, we think that he’s found his natural position this year as he made the move to center for the Chragers. With his body type and physical style of play, he’s a great fit on the interior of an offensive line. He’s made the transition to center appear natural and that might be his best fit at the next level. What’s scary is he’s only scratching the surface right now.
