West Weeks is the prospect of the week for the Athens area

This week’s prospect of the week shined a position that he won’t play at the college level. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="33735" first="West" last="Weeks"], 6’ 3” 200 pounds, Linebacker, Oconee County High School (2021)</strong> Weeks is committed to the University of Virginia to play the linebacker position for the Cavaliers. On Friday night, Weeks made his first start at quarterback for the Warriors in their season-opening win over rival North Oconee High School. Weeks was 7-10 for 104 yards and a touchdown. Weeks carried the ball for seven times for 49 yards and a touchdown as well. He made his impact on defense as well. He had a sack that stripped the quarterback of the football and gave the Warriors a possession on their side of the field. Weeks isn’t a stranger to playing both ways. He’s done it since he was a sophomore, playing safety and wide receiver before switching to the linebacker spot as a junior. Weeks feels he can even improve off his performance on Friday. I thought I did pretty good,” Weeks told The Oconee Enterprise following the game. “I missed a couple passes that I probably should have hit. I’ve got a lot of work to do to get in shape. I’m going to have to get through it and get the extra work in. That’s on me.” &nbsp;
