Paraclete (Lancaster) quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="25179" first="CJ" last="Montes"] announced his commitment to New Mexico Friday.
Montes is 6-feet, 170 pounds and was the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/california/rankings/2021-rankings/">fourth ranked uncommitted quarterback in the state according to Prep Redzone</a>.
He told Greg Biggins of 247Sports that New Mexico was the front runner since they initially offered him early in the recruiting process.
"New Mexico believed in me from the beginning and that meant a lot to me," Montes said. "They looked past my transfers, which I had no control over and saw me for me. They believed in my ability to play and lead and I’m definitely ready to go show my talent and smarts on the football field."
Montes is the second quarterback in New Mexico’s 2021 recruiting class, but they always intended on having multiple quarterbacks in the class. Bear Milacek of Boulder Creek High in Phoenix, AZ is the other quarterback committed. Montes is the second player from California in the New Mexico recruiting class, joining [player_tooltip player_id="25128" first="Keyonta" last="Lanier"] of Long Beach Poly.

<strong>Servite QB gets first Power 5 offer</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="25286" first="Noah" last="Fifita"] of Servite (Anaheim) received his first offer from a Power 5 conference school over the weekend.
Cal offered the <a href="https://www.ocregister.com/2019/12/20/all-orange-county-football-second-team-third-team/">All-County</a> junior signal-caller on Friday. He also has offers from Hawaii, Idaho State and New Mexico. Prep Redzone listed him as the<a href="https://prepredzone.com/2020/09/top-quarterbacks-in-orange-county-1-5/"> second best quarterback in Orange County</a> and the seventh best quarterback in the state in the 2022 class.
He completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,892 yards and threw 37 touchdown passes to just four interceptions for a Servite team last season that finished in third place in the Trinity League and made an appearance in the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs.
<strong>Michigan vying for No. 1 recruit in 2022 class</strong>
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) cornerback [player_tooltip player_id="25223" first="Domani" last="Jackson"] has raved about Michigan’s coaching staff and the way the Wolverines have been recruiting him according to Brice Marich of 247Sports.
Michigan is one of five schools pushing hard for Jackson and he has even called it a dream school according to Marich.
Jackson had 48 tackles, 9 pass deflections and an interception for Mater Dei as a sophomore last season.
Biggins and recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong predict that Jackson will ultimately land at USC.

<strong>USC offers super sophomore from Alemany</strong>
JShawn Fausto-Ramos (Alemany) was offered by USC Saturday, which he called a "dream offer."
He had 32 tackles and a sack for Alemany as a freshman last season.
Fausto-Ramos holds offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas, Oregon State and Virginia Tech in addition to USC.

<strong>Big East Bay prospect narrows his list to three</strong>
6-foot-8, 300-pound defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="25108" first="Jailen" last="Weaver"] of Antioch cut his list of schools from 10 to 3 this past weekend.
Indiana, Nebraska and Tennessee are the three schools Weaver told Brandon Huffman of 247Sports.
Weaver had 46 tackles, 12 for a loss, 9 sacks and a forced fumble for Antioch last season.
He is the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/california/rankings/2021-rankings/">11th ranked defensive lineman in the class of 2021 in California</a> according to Prep Redzone.
