Last night we had a strong defensive battle between South Fayette and Peters Township. In the end, it came down to special teams. These are players who stood out in this matchup.
Peters Township – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27235" first="Corban" last="Hondru"]</strong> (SR) Linebacker 6’1 225: Corban has good speed shows physicality, had pressure on the QB all night. He had 2 sacks with 2 fumbles and a fumble recovery. He had a touchdown-saving hit to force an incomplete pass early third quarter.
*Other Note: Scored the first TD of the game as a rusher with 4 seconds into the second quarter. Had a couple of huge fourth-down conversions with fake punts.
Peters Township – <strong>Donovan McMillon </strong>(SR) Safety 6’2 200: Donovan had a quiet first half but did have a blocked punt. He also had a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half to make it 17-0. He had a touchdown-saving tackle early in the fourth quarter.
South Fayette – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27360" first="Charley" last="Rossi"]</strong> (SR) Wide Receiver 5’9 175: Charley was involved early with a few catches. He has quickness with good route running ability. He had a total of 8 catches for 147 yards.
Peters Township – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27451" first="Vinny" last="Sirianni"]</strong> (SR) Running Back 5’9 200: Vinny shows good vision. Has quickness and good speed. He didn’t have any huge runs but every time he got the ball, he gained a good chunk of yards.
South Fayette – <strong>Keon Johnson</strong> (JR) Defensive End 5’9 230: Keon is undersized, lacks get off but shows to use hands well and twitchy. Had a couple of tackles including a sack. D3 schools should take a look at him.
South Fayette – <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27373" first="Joey" last="Audia"]</strong> (SR) Defensive Back 5’9 175: Joey shows quickness and speed with a cornerback sack Had a tipped INT late first half. Also had pretty big catches late in the game.
Peters Township – <strong>Breylen Carrington</strong> (SR) Cornerback: Breylen had a couple of tackles. Good speed. He added his fifth INT within the first 2 weeks of the season.
