Unfortunately, the match up did not deliver as most would have hoped, or expected it to. Not only did Eagle’s Landing win, but they crushed Heritage High School of Newnan. The final score saw Eagle’s Landing on top, 58-0. If this isn’t embarrassing enough, the fact that one single player had 7 TD’s on his own definitely goes to show you how much the Eagle’s Landing came to play. This player is none other than Josh Rogers.
Josh Rogers- 5’6 167 Senior
Josh Rogers helped hand Heritage High School a loss this past Friday, and hopes to be able to continue to stack upon this success going into the rest of this season. First and foremost, we do firmly believe that if he continues to run with the ability he displayed on Friday, he will be able to receive some attention from smaller college programs.
All in all, Rogers finished the game against Heritage with 410 rushing yards, and 7 TD’s. On most of these TD runs. Rogers found himself in a position to burst through the hole, or around the edge for huge runs. With this being said, he collected a large amount of his yards on his long TD carries.
When running the football, Rogers showed flashes of his natural running ability, and ability to see the field, and make stellar, patient decisions due to his good vision. Paired with this, Rogers managed to be very shifty, and twitchy when he carried the ball, which helped him to slip through tackles, and opposing defenders who made a awful effort of wrapping up on him. Rogers took full advantage of this, and allowed his strong legs and ability to change direction to constantly shed tackles, and make plays for his team.
While Rogers had a great game Friday, we do not expect him to be able to rush for 7 TD’s in a single game again. We do believe that he will continue to shine, and have a few more big games this season. As the season goes on, tune in with us to see how he continues to develop, and if he is able to receive more offers to play at the next level.
