Because there was no spring or summer camps to really watch these young men like we have done for the past half century, a lot of the evaluations came down to pre Covid-19 camps and showcases and what many of these quality football prospects did in 2019.
What has set us apart from all those who compile these lists and evaluations over the decades is our ability to see these impressive football players year-round – at camps and combines, spring football practices and games when very few are able to see and evaluate – and most importantly watching and comparing talent.
As we will continue to get around the state of Florida to watch these athletes firsthand – and not rely on watching tape or listening to others – you will see some of these talented football players, along with rising stars, get the recognition they deserve.
Today, we take a look at some premier defensive ends who are athletic, talented and versatile.
[player_tooltip player_id="50040" first="Zane" last="Durant"], 6-1, 240, Orlando Lake Nona. One of those versatile football prospects, who not only gets it done on defense as a run stopper and pass rusher, but is also a quality tight end. His quickness and strength overwhelms offensive linemen at the point of contact. Not the biggest player on the field, but his ability to play this game certainly makes up for everything.

[player_tooltip player_id="50067" first="Mario" last="Eugenio"], 6-3, 230, Tampa Gaither. There are many things to like about this gifted young man. At 6-3, he has the size to bat down passes at the line of scrimmage. He also has the length and vision to get to the passer or stop the run. While he is a prototype pass rusher, he is also someone you can place at the outside linebacker spot and give yourself a more versatile football player. There is really so much to like about this quality prospect and he’s still learning the position.

[player_tooltip player_id="49988" first="Kenyatta" last="Jackson"], 6-4, 215, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. This is one of the fastest rising defensive end prospects in the class. A gifted prospect who is quick off the ball, gets into the backfield and will not only pressure the passer but is also a more than capable run stopper. Has started the 2020 season much the way he ended 2019 – as one of the premier players in Florida – and a national recruit for head coach Dameon Jones and the Lions.

[player_tooltip player_id="49982" first="Shemar" last="Stewart"], 6-5.5, 236, Miami Monsignor Pace. Since this impressive talent burst onto the scene, all he has done is learn, mature and establish himself as one of the best in the country. The sad part of those who analyze him is they have never, ever watched him play in person – and continue to rely on tape, which is an enhancement – or via camps, which tells very little. Having watched him play the game of football live several times, this is indeed as good as you get, and the best thing about it, is he has two full years to grow and lean more about this sport. This is a quality all-around prospect, who also gets it done in the classroom.

[player_tooltip player_id="50024" first="Keahnist" last="Thompson"], 6-4, 230, Lakeland. The one thing about the Dreadnaughts and head coach Bill Castle is they produce impressive talent like this every year. Versatile football talent who can get it done on both sides of the ball. As a defensive end, here is a quick, long and athletic football player who not only gets it done on passing downs, but try and run against him and you will see how quick he is. Put him on the offensive side of the ball and he’s unstoppable as a tight end as well. Big time potential who will blow up in 2020.
