Here at Prep Redzone Oklahoma, our mission is to bring the absolute best coverage of high school football in Oklahoma. Every week, we’ll be at the top games across the state. We’ll have updates, highlights, interviews and more. Part of that “more” are scouting reports. We’ll have breakdowns on some of the top performers that we saw in person. Some of those players will already be established prospects. Others might be under the radar and ready to emerge. Every weekend, check out our scouting reports to see who stepped up in a big way on Friday night.
BOOKER T WASHINGTON DEFEATS DEL CITY 15-13
#4 Booker T Washington won a defensive slugfest against #2 Del City in our week one game of the week. The Hornets would score a pair of touchdowns, get a safety and held up on defense when they needed stop after stop. The game came down to the wire and Del City would score a touchdown with under a minute left in the game. The Hornets would come up with the stop on the 2-point conversion to hold on to the win. They would knock off Del City 15-13 to improve to 2-0 on the season. You can check out the highlights from their big win RIGHT HERE. [player_tooltip player_id="38797" first="Amondre" last="Tiger"] - 2023 - Defensive Tackle
Booker T Washington’s defense came up huge in more ways than one on Friday night. Arguably the brightest spot on the Hornet defense was the defensive line, specifically on the interior with a pair of defensive tackles. Our first defensive tackle was somewhat of a surprise to us as we watched the game unfold. We had heard about the name [player_tooltip player_id="38797" first="Amondre" last="Tiger"] as a young name to watch on this Hornet team. And the young sophomore played big in one of the toughest games the Hornets will play this year. It was not easy job to slow down Del City and their extremely fast backfield. However, Tiger and his fellow defensive linemen did a great job containing and a lot of times, shutting down the Eagle offense. Tiger is a name to remember as a DT prospect.
[player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] - 2022 - Athlete
As of right now, there’s a lot of unknowns with Booker T Washington star junior [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"]. The speedster was having a good game on Friday night. Until he was hurt, while playing offense. He was on the turf holding his right leg and could not put any weight on it while being helped back to the Booker T Washington sideline. He would be with his team on the sidelines during the second half. But he was on crutches with his right knee wrapped up. The initial thought was that it could be some kind of a tear in his knee. While that hasn’t been confirmed at this time, it was still a scary moment, for the Hornets and for Williams. If Williams is down for a significant amount of time, that’ll be a huge loss for the Hornets on offense and defense.
[player_tooltip player_id="48707" first="Jackson" last="Marsh"] - Punter
Punters are prospects too! And Booker T Washington has a good one. [player_tooltip player_id="48707" first="Jackson" last="Marsh"] had a really great performance kicking the ball for the Hornets. As we said above, it was an absolute defensive slugfest so field position became so critical in the match-up. Marsh got all of his punts off and had good hang time on them. He also pinned Del City inside their 20 on several occasions, including one punt that was downed inside the one-yard line. We’ve mentioned it many times how the recruitment of kickers and punters is so much different than other positions. It’s a complete numbers game and the fact is that schools can go a couple years without offering a kicker. Most end up having to walk on and work their way to a scholarship.
[player_tooltip player_id="38611" first="Jaden" last="Brown"] - 2021 - Defensive Tackle
The other half of the defensive tackle terrors was senior [player_tooltip player_id="38611" first="Jaden" last="Brown"]. We knew about Brown coming into the 2020 season and him combined with Tiger, makes for a scary combo along the line of scrimmage. Brown and Tiger were nearly impossible to contain and were routinely getting into the backfield, or they were being held, costing Del City valuable yards. One of the things that we liked to see from Brown specifically was his leadership on the field and on the sidelines. You can tell that Brown is the vocal leader of not only the defense but of this Hornet football team. Combined with Tiger up front, Brown and this Hornet defensive front are going to be tough match-up’s every week. Not too many O-Lines will have success against this duo.
[player_tooltip player_id="38574" first="Jalen" last="Teague"] - 2021 - Wide Receiver
Last week, the star receiver performance came from sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"]. On Friday night, it was senior receiver [player_tooltip player_id="38574" first="Jalen" last="Teague"] that got the majority of the targets in this Hornet offense. While the majority of his targets and catches came on simple quick passes out to Teague at the line of scrimmage, he still showed off a big skill set. Teague has great size at 6’3 and can run. He’s a big physical player that saw plenty of contact on Friday night. Teague was routinely hitting Del City linebackers or defensive backs, who are some of the best in the state and he kept on coming back for more. Teague is one of the more underrated offensive weapons in Oklahoma’s 2021 class. Whoever lands him is getting an absolute steal at the wide receiver position.
[player_tooltip player_id="38494" first="Keuan" last="Parker"] - 2021 - Cornerback
We’ve written many times that senior corner [player_tooltip player_id="38494" first="Keuan" last="Parker"] is one of, if not the top lockdown corner in the state of Oklahoma right now. We’ve also written about how if Parker was two or three inches taller, he would be considered one of the top corners in the country. Parker showed off those skillsets on Friday night in a great 1 on 1 match-up with Del City receiver [player_tooltip player_id="38526" first="Sherod" last="Davis"]. The Del City senior is one of the better receivers in the state and was very limited on what he could do in the match-up against Parker. With Williams getting hurt, Parker had to step up and might have to continue to step up in future weeks. Not only did he answer the call but he showed why Parker should be considered one of the best lockdown corners in the country, regardless of his height.
[player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"] - 2023 - Wide Receiver
As mentioned above, Tease had a breakout performance last week in Booker T Washington’s win over Southmoore. On Friday night against Del City, Tease still put up big numbers and had a productive game, despite the majority of the targets going to Teague. However, this sets up Booker T Washington to be a nightmare to game plan for with the combination of Teague and Tease at the receiver positions. You can make the argument that the duo of Teague and Tease might be the best 1-2 at the receiver position in Oklahoma right now. Tease also showed off his playmaking ability late in the game on Friday night. With the Hornets missing a few defensive players, Tease came in and made the pass deflection on the potential game-tying 2-point conversion.
