Florida 1A Region 3: Defensive Line Prospects

<span style="font-size: 18pt;"><em><strong>With the 2020 season starting, I wanted to go spotlight prospects from every classification in Florida. A lot of times these kids get overlooked because they don’t play at big schools, and I feel that they deserve the spotlight and the opportunity to be seen by college coaches as well. It is important that we highlight as many prospects as possible. At Prep Redzone Florida, we are different than most sites where we want to emphasize guys that are not being heavily recruited and try to promote them, so they also get an opportunity to play in college and get the exposure they need and deserve!</strong></em></span> &nbsp; &nbsp; <em><strong>Colby Herring DT- Bell High c/o 22</strong></em> <em><strong>6’3 300lbs</strong></em> Herring is a classic space eater; he consistently takes on double teams and allows his linebackers to run free to the ball. He does not show a lot of penetration, but he’s definitely a good one technique prospect. He plays with a lot of strength and is a classic run-stuffer. He has Division 1 size and I expect him to make a huge improvement this season. I wish there were more film with him because the little bit that was on there was good enough to garner some attention. Film: <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/10301055/Waylen-Mccumber">https://www.hudl.com/profile/10301055/Waylen-Mccumber</a> &nbsp; <em><strong>Carson Newkirk DE- Hilliard c/o 22</strong></em> <em><strong>6’5 200lbs</strong></em> Newkirk is a prospect that has a lot of length being 6’5 in a big wingspan, he shows speed rush abilities to turn the corner and has a high motor, good awareness and closing burst. He missed three games last season so his production should double for Hilliard. Lee does a good job when not getting to the quarterback for the rush to get his hands up and block passes. I saw on film time and again him disrupting passing lanes with timing and athleticism. Lee is relentless and plays with a lot of energy. &nbsp; Film: <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/13124937/Jahyren-Lee">https://www.hudl.com/profile/13124937/Jahyren-Lee</a> &nbsp; <em><strong>Solomon Jones DT/DE- Union County</strong></em> <em><strong>5’11 230lbs</strong></em> Jones has a natural low center of gravity, he shows good twitch and quickness from the defensive tackle position. He has active hands and continuously shed off blocks to make plays in the backfield.
