Look for these five seniors to make big plays for their respective teams this season.
Nekhi Broadway – Monterey Trail
While leading the Metropolitan league in tackles by all juniors, the Monterey Trail Mustangs as a team had another spectacular season finishing 9-1 in the regular season. Broadway played a key factor for the Mustangs during a tough playoff run. Opponents were old-time rival Pleasant Grove also of Elk Grove, St. Mary’s with four three-star recruits, Folsom with only one regular-season loss to De La Salle, and Oak Ridge in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game. Keep an eye out for Broadway to standout in some big matchups in the Mustangs non-conference games against Folsom, St. John Bosco, and Pittsburg (CA).
Malcolm McGlothin – Sheldon
For the past two seasons, McGlothin has had a major presence on defense for the Sheldon Huskies. He led the Delta League and finished second among juniors for the most tackles per game. Within the Delta League, McGlothin is one of the top linebackers along with star recruits Moses Oladejo Moses Oladejo 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Cosumnes Oaks | 2021 State CA , Isaiah Bobbitt-Byars, and Zachary Brooks. The Huskies will open up their season against the Downey Knights of Modesto on Jan. 8
Sean Myles – Oakmont
After leading the section in total tackles, Myles was named to the All-Sac Joaquin second-team defense and All-Metro first-team defense. He shined on both sides of the ball with eight rushing touchdowns that tied for the most by an Oakmont Viking in 2019. Led by head coach Tim Moore, the Vikings had their first winning season since 2005. They will open this upcoming season against the Roseville Tigers.
Ryan Enney – Oak Ridge
As a middle linebacker, opposing running backs have quite the challenge going up against the Enney and the Oak Ridge Trojans defense. Enney was named All-Sac Joaquin and All-Northern California second-team defense as he had an outstanding 2019 season leading the section in solo tackles. The Trojans are the reigning Division I Sac-Joaquin champions and advanced to the NorCal regional championship but unfortunately fell to the Central Grizzlies of Fresno
Austin Hauptman – Whitney
Hauptman is arguably the most under-recruited prospect in the section. Last season he was named All-Northern California second-team defense and was just one of three juniors to be named to All-Sac Joaquin first-team defense. In the Whitney Wildcats four playoff games, Hauptman had 39 total tackles and even included a sack for a 15-yard loss. From his 39 tackles, 32 were assisted and added to 116 total for the season, the highest among juniors in the section. The Wildcats as a team had a great year on defense finishing third in the section for tackles and seventh for tackles per game.
