We have reached the official start of the season with Week 1 games in the book. But as they say, the show must go on and we will finish out our previews as we have done in recent weeks.
With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="23839" first="Max" last="White"] - Cedar Rapids Kennedy</strong>
After putting together an incredible season in 2019, Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s [player_tooltip player_id="23839" first="Max" last="White"] kicked off 2020 with a bang.
White completed 6 of 9 passes for 83 yards, carrying the ball 26 times for 236 yards with four touchdowns in a 35-34 win for the Cougars over Cedar Rapids Prairie.
Last year, White completed 66 of 93 for 751 yards with seven TDs while carrying the ball 187 times for 1,114 yards and a team-high 21 scores.
<strong>Caden Kipper - Pleasant Valley</strong>
Pleasant Valley’s Caden Kipper showed what he was capable of last year, leading the team with 600 yards rushing. He also scored four touchdowns, averaging almost six yards per carry.
Kipper also caught six passes for another 53 yards.
In Week 1, he had 16 carries for 165 yards and found the end zone twice, adding another reception for 20 yards as Pleasant Valley downed Iowa City Regina, 45-13.
<strong>Quincy Wiseman - Davenport North</strong>
Davenport North’s Quincy Wiseman presents a nice target, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 160 pounds.
As a junior, Wiseman caught 30 passes for 488 yards with four touchdowns, averaging over 16 yards per reception. He also made 19 tackles, including 15 solo stops, with a fumble recovery.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="23927" first="Trae" last="Swartz"] - Ottumwa</strong>
Also a standout basketball player, Ottumwa’s [player_tooltip player_id="23927" first="Trae" last="Swartz"] is coming off a 16-catch, 292-yard junior season on the gridiron.
Swartz, who also caught three touchdowns last year, averaged over 18 yards per reception.
In the season opener for the Bulldogs, he caught five passes for 93 yards and a score, posting almost 19 yards per catch.
