As more and more Florida high school football programs get back to playing the game, the weekly stars on the gridiron are making some noise.

Here is a look at this week’s head-turners:
Senior quarterback <strong>Gabe Contento</strong> from Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy was 16 of 19 for 270 yards and 3 TDs in a 19-0 win over West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman.
Senior quarterback <strong>Dylan Oester</strong> was an impressive 20 of 29 for 344 yards and 3 TDs as Dunedin dropped a 44-26 decision to St. Petersburg Catholic.
Senior running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="32792" first="K’wan" last="Powell"]</strong> scored six total touchdowns and rushed for 249 yards on just five carries as Vernon rolled past Port St. Joe, 55-19. Powell reached the end zone three times on the ground and three more times through the air, catching a pair of touchdown passes from <strong>Dyvion Bush </strong>and another from <strong>Markus Hammack.</strong>
In his 2020 debut for three-time defending 3A state champion Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, University of Miami commit<strong> Thad Franklin </strong>ran for 4 touchdowns and over 100 yards in a 27-14 win over defending 2A state champion Hialeah Champagnat Catholic.
Junior running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="50210" first="Kade" last="Frew"]</strong> from Jacksonville Bolles had 161 all purpose yards and scored twice in a 36-12 win over Jacksonville Trinity Christian.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="50216" first="Dominick" last="Ratty"]</strong> rushed for a second-quarter touchdown and returned the second-half kickoff 81 yards for a score as West Palm Beach The King’s Academy opened with a 33-27 win over Englewood Lemon Bay.
<strong>Aaron Small Jr.</strong> ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more to help Gainesville P.K. Yonge beat Eastside, 44-21.
Junior <strong>AJ Williams</strong> took a punt 54-yards for a touchdown and scored again on a 72-yard strike from quarterback <strong>Xavione Washington</strong> as Tampa Catholic (2-0) rolled over Clearwater Central Catholic, 35-0.
Senior <strong>Philip Riley</strong> ran 53 yards for a game-winning touchdown to pave the way for Valrico Bloomingdale to knock off 7A power Seffner Armwood, 15-14.
<strong>Jay Allen</strong> threw three touchdown passes as Fort Pierce John Carroll rolled to a 27-0 win against Port St. Lucie.
Senior <strong>Joe Pesansky</strong>, who has had a total of three weeks of practice with Tampa Jesuit (2-0) after moving from Virginia, finished with 10 completions on 17 attempts for 231 yards and three touchdowns, including a 55-yarder to sophomore <strong>Jarriett Buie Jr.</strong> in the second quarter in a 35-21 win over Clearwater.
Versatile senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="32845" first="Steffan" last="Johnson"]</strong> rushed for a game-high 129 yards on 12 carries, including a 59-yard touchdown to lead Venice to a 40-6 win over Jacksonville Raines. Johnson also had a 38-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter and added three catches to lead the Indians.
<strong>DeVaughn Patterson</strong> and <strong>Jordan Lowery </strong>scored two touchdowns apiece as Jacksonville Ed White denied national champion coach <strong>Kenny Sanchez </strong>on his debut St. Augustine Menendez, 38-30.
<strong>I’jon Richardson </strong>rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown to lead Jacksonville Bishop Snyder to a 12-0 win over Rocky Bayou Christian.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49990" first="Sam" last="McCall"]</strong> returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and caught two more passes for touchdowns as Lake Gibson Braves crushed Haines City 82-0. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="50051" first="Jaylon" last="Glover"]</strong> also ran for 128 yards on 13 carries and one score for the Braves.
Junior linebacker <strong>Austin Redd</strong> had 8 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, safety, 1 QB pressure and an interception return as Fort Myers Bishop Verot shut out Delray American Heritage.
