Under-the-Radar: 2021 Offensive Linemen
The 2021 class is loaded with talented offensive linemen, the deepest position in our top 200. We’ve mentioned a few of the guys at the very top but haven’t talked enough about some of the talented under-the-radar players. Here are five guys with few offers that we love.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28566" first="Prestin" last="Hawkins"], 6’6 290, Hough</strong>
Hawkins is a bit overlooked on Hough’s talented offense but he’s a key cog that helps make it run. He’s a powerful run blocker and capable pass protector that continues to add weight without losing speed. He’s primarily a right tackle but could probably transition elsewhere, if needed. Hawkins should be a great pickup for an FCS or even Group of Five program.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28599" first="Andrew" last="McCormick"], 6’2 290, Union Pines</strong>
If McCormick were three inches taller, he’d be a highly-desired Power Five offensive tackle. As it stands, he’s incredible talented. He’s a strong run blocker that finishes blocks and is athletic enough to get to the second level. In the passing game, he’s a stalwart at left tackle and flashes ability as a downfield blocker in the screen game. Colleges should be calling him today, because he’s going to be a steal.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28570" first="Omarion" last="Rushing"], 6’4 270, Monroe</strong>
Rushing is a strong, physical offensive lineman that plays with a good bit of nastiness. He’s versatile, with experience at center, tackle and guard and could probably play any of those positions at the next level. He’s a bit raw, but we expect him to take that next step as a senior. When he gets some senior film out to schools, his recruitment should explode.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28597" first="Gabriel" last="Palacios"], 6’2 305, Rocky River</strong>
Palacios is one of the better guards in the state. You can tell from some players’ film that they love to run block and that’s Palacios. He excels at getting to the next level and punishing smaller defenders. His physicality will translate well to the next level and he has good enough feet to work on the inside.
