[player_tooltip player_id="25042" first="Derek" last="Wilkins"], the number two ranked defensive end in California according to Prep Redzone, announced his commitment to Cal via Instagram Live on Friday.
On July 17, he narrowed his list of schools to six: Boston College, Cal, Nebraska, Stanford, UCLA and Washington.
"Coach (Andrew) Browning is a great guy and someone I’m very comfortable with," Wilkins told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. "Coach (Justin) Wilcox is a defensive minded head coach and in terms of the academic prestige, Cal is tough to beat. I visited there three times, more than any other school and love the campus, the city of Berkeley and have a great comfort level overall."
Wilkins joins two other California defensive ends in Cal’s recruiting class: [player_tooltip player_id="25057" first="Akili" last="Calhoun"] of Liberty High in Brentwood and [player_tooltip player_id="25106" first="Myles" last="Williams"] of Alemany of Mission Hills.
