San Clemente running back [player_tooltip player_id="25122" first="James" last="Bohls"] announced his commitment to Arizona Sunday.
In a strange turn of events, the decision of his teammate led to Bohls committing.
[player_tooltip player_id="25142" first="Cole" last="Batson"] withdrew his commitment from Arizona last week and decided to commit to Boston College. Before Batson withdrew his commitment, Arizona did not have any more spots left in its 2021 class.
“It’s kind of funny how it all worked out,” Bohls told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “Cole committed back in June to Arizona and after he committed, I wanted to commit too but they didn’t have any spots left. A few weeks ago, Cole told me he wasn’t really feeling Arizona as much and wanted to visit Boston College."
“He de-committed last week and right after, I got a call from Andy Buh, the LB coach. He told me that a scholarship was back open for me and they would hold it for two weeks. I said, ‘coach I don’t need two weeks, let me just visit the campus first and see how I like it.’ I just visited the last two days and loved it there. I knew that was the place for me.”

Bohls was initially recruited as a running back, but is expected to play linebacker at Arizona. He visited the campus with his father and friends over the weekend and was not able to meet with any coaches, but was able to see the stadium and practice fields.
He told Biggins he always wanted to play in the Pac 12 and that he is excited about his decision. Bohls wanted to commit quickly so he can focus on school and his upcoming senior season at San Clemente.
