Santa Fe Trail finished 2019 with a 4-5 record and district playoff loss to Holton.
Chargers head coach Jayson Duncan will hope that the experience gained last year will translate into wins in 2020.
Here is a look at the talented Santa Fe Trail senior class.
ATH, Zack Baker, 5’8”, 165, – Baker has and can play all over the field. He has great and hands a knack for finding the football. Baker has played as a wideout and running back on offense. He is a hard worker who could fill multiple roles based on the needs of the interested college program.
FB, McClain Weekley, 5’10”, 160, – Weekley is a hard-nosed two-way player. He has good speed and is a north-south runner. The Charger senior plays free safety on defense. He has solid closing speed and brings the wood when he needs to make tackles.
RB, Tyler Duncan, 5’8”, 154, – Duncan is a physical runner who is tough to tackle. Football is in his blood as he plays for his father Santa Fe Trail head coach Jayson Duncan. Duncan could contribute on special teams at the next level very quickly.
OL, Will Rhoades, 5’11”, 235, – Rhoades is a tough player who controls his pad level. He stared varsity ball as a sophomore and looks to be slot into a leadership position in 2020.
All four of these seniors are looking for their first official college offers. Currently, NAIA schools have been talking with this group.
The Chargers are scheduled to start their season with a home game against Prairie View.
