The Warriors have a ton of players that could be heading to the college level in the coming years. Here are a few that you should know heading into the 2020 season.
West Weeks West Weeks 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Oconee County | 2021 State GA 6’3”, 200 pounds, Linebacker/Safety (2021)
Weeks is committed to the University of Virginia. He’s played wide receiver, safety and linebacker for the Warriors. His future is probably at linebacker at the college level.
He’s a modern-day edge linebacker.
His safety background makes him a plus in space against slot receivers and running backs and running quarterbacks. Weeks appears to have plus-level speed and he explodes in and out of breaks on offense. He explodes on contact with ball carriers as well.
Obviously, he’s a strong young man.
Elijah Hamm Elijah Hamm 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Oconee County | 2021 State GA 6’3”, 200 pounds, Safety (2021)
Hamm is committed to Northern Illinois. The way he has looked in practices so far makes one wonder if his recruitment will ignite again as the fall progresses.
He’s a Power Five talent. Looks the part, with a big frame and a disposition for the offense.
Carsen Stocklinski, 6’4”, 295 pounds, Offensive/Defensive Lineman (2021)
Stocklinski is committed to Gardner-Webb University. He’s added some size since last season. He’s been a dominant player along the Warriors lines for the past season.
His senior film should add some eyes from some of the bigger conferences. Stocklinski plays violently and he’s smooth for a player of his size.
Jake Johnson Jake Johnson 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Maize South | 2021 State KS 6’ 5”, 210 pounds, Tight End (2022)
Johnson has spent much of his first two seasons at the wide receiver position for the Warriors. He had his breakout year last season as a sophomore playing alongside his older brother, LSU signee, Max Johnson.
As he ages and grows physically larger, Johnson will begin plays with his hand in the dirt. That evolution will take place in 2020.
If he can make the transition to blocking bigger players, the path is set for him to be one of the top tight end prospects in the state. He was one of the most dominant pass-catching threats in his class in 2019.
Darius Johnson, 5’ 10”, 170 pounds, Cornerback (2022)
Johnson isn’t a big corner, but he doesn’t play like he it. As a sophomore in 2019, Johnson seemed to get his hands on the football in big games.
He isn’t afraid to stick his nose in and make a stop either. He’s tough. That serves him well as a corner trying to match up with, he larger wide outs in the state.
Thomas Waters Thomas Waters 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Oconee County | 2022 GA , 6’2”, 275 pounds, Offensive Lineman, (2022)
Waters is a program player. He’s been a starter since the end of his freshman season and has steadily improved each year.
Waters is a dominant run blocker. He is solid in pass protection. Schools will begin to call at some point this fall.
Liam Lewis, 6’0″ 185 pounds, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back, (2021)
Lewis is a player that will roll up his sleeves and do what’s best for the team. He isn’t off the charts in any physical category. He’s a winning football player.
When you see Oconee County play, Lewis is always finding ways to make plays. Most of last season he played with a club wrapped around his hand.
He’ll find his way into college football and thrive.
