With offenses throwing the ball more and more, wideouts are constantly emerging, and there’s a few who could see their stock take off if everything goes according to plan this fall.
Here are a few wide receivers to know who have little to no offers heading into the 2020 season.
Daveon Walker – Warner Robins – Class of 2022
The Demons of Warner Robins are always one of the top teams in middle Georgia, and they have an up and coming star at receiver in Daveon Walker. The 6-foot-2 180-pounder is an excellent route runner with deceptive speed and big-play ability. He has good ball skills, he high points the ball well, and is only getting better. He has a lean frame with room to add muscle, and he has enough speed to take it the distance any time he touches the ball. Some smaller schools have shown interest, but if he has the season many in Warner Robins expect from him, the offers will start to roll in. He’s a major sleeper prospect to know in the 2022 class.
Eric Ivory Jr. – Dooley County- Class of 2022
If there’s a breakout wide receiver to know in south Georgia, it’s Ivory Jr, a big-time athlete who is expected to have a monster season this fall. He plays both ways currently at both cornerback and wide receiver, but he really shines on offense. There is limited film right now, but the 6-foot-1 170-pounder should have plenty of film after his junior season. He has a lean frame, great ball skills, and lots of pure, raw potential. He has big-play ability and should see lots of opportunities to make plays for his small-town school this fall.
Zach Johansen – Buford – Class of 2022
The North Gwinnett transfer is coming off a serious knee injury but should be back to full health once the season starts. At 6-foot-1 185-pound wideout is an excellent route runner with reliable hands. He’s tough, he’s a hard worker, and he’s constantly training on his own time to get better. He’s shifty, he can create separation, and he knows how to get behind a defense. Not only does he have reliable hands, but he also knows how to block, and he’s able to help in the return game. The Buford Wolves are getting an excellent receiver who is looking to have a big season as a junior. He may not be an Power 5-caliber wideout just yet, but he is deserving of some interest, and he could see some smaller schools extended an offer once he gets more film out.
Xavier Jackson – Hillgrove – Class of 2023
He might be young, but Jackson is an explosive receiver who has a chance to really make a name for himself this fall. He has good size for his age at 5-foot-11 165-pounds, but it’s his big-play ability that really stood out as a freshman. He can take a screen pass the distance due to his speed and quickness, and he has enough of a vertical to high point the football and make a tough catch over a defender. As he continues to grow and madd muscle, Jackson could turn into one of the state’s best in the 2023 class. The staff at Hillgrove has high expectations for Jackson this year, and if they’re right, Jackson should see his recruitment start to take off.
