However, these guys do not back down, and they are hungry to compete with anyone. There are some hidden gems up north, and every one of these guys is planning to light it up this year. Here’s a peek at some of the top QB’s looking to make an impact:
Cole Fuller Cole Fuller 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Lake Havasu | 2021 State AZ , 6’1″ 180lbs.,
Lake Havasu HS
Cole’s athleticism makes him a threat in the air and on the ground. His strong arm and ability to lead receivers open is perhaps his strongest trait. He is not hesitant to tuck and run if nothing is open downfield, and shows high potential for big play ability every time he takes off. He makes it a nightmare for defenders due to his ability to throw on the run as well. He does a great job baiting defenders into either sitting in coverage while he takes off, or he can throw a dart on the run while getting pressure. Look for Cole to lead Havasu deep in the playoffs.
PJ London PJ London 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Blue Ridge | 2021 State AZ , 6’3″ 205 lbs., Blue Ridge HS
PJ is your do-it-all QB. From standing in the pocket throwing ropes, to running the option under center, PJ is an elite QB that can fit anywhere. His big frame is a plus in his ability to sit in the pocket and make accurate reads. He makes accurate tight window throws with and without pressure. PJ plays very aggressive, which makes it very difficult to bring him down. He can make plays on his feet as well. We’ve seen him turn a sack into 10-20-and 30 yard rushes, as well as his being able to find a receiver on a busted play. Expect a big 2020 season from PJ.
Zach Harrison Zach Harrison 5'11" | 165 lbs | QB Mingus Union | 2022 State AZ , 5’11″ 165lbs., Mingus Union HS
Zach comes from a tough Mingus program who loves to grind out games. He plays fearless and shows huge potential. He is not afraid to throw the deep ball, and is very efficient when he does. As he still has much room to develop (class of 2022), he shows a bright upside to lead the Mingus offense for a few more years. Zach makes the correct reads and shows poise in the pocket. He shows extreme toughness, as he is not afraid to take a hit after release. His football IQ as a sophomore was very impressive, so look for Zach to turn some heads this coming season.
Trevor Cline, 6’2″ 190lbs., Payson HS
Trevor shows extreme poise in the pocket and delivers a smooth, accurate ball. His accuracy is very impressive as he is able to make throws from all angles. However, possibly his best attribute is his strength. He has a cannon for an arm and it is very exciting to see him unleash it. Trevor is a truck when runs the ball, as he loves to initiate contact by putting someone on their back when they try to bring him down. Trevor shows potential for a breakout senior season, so look for Trevor to put Payson on the map.
Elton Kirk, 5’9″ 170lbs., Ganado HS
Elton is a huge sleeper for this upcoming season. He is a dual-threat QB who makes a something out of nothing. Despite his size, Elton shows the ability to go through his progression and is very consistent with his reads. He is not afraid to sit in the pocket and take a hit, however he excels throwing on the run. Elton is a very shifty ball carrier and his speed is deceitful. He can make linebackers and DB’s miss and is one step away from a big play. He shows relentlessness to go down every time he is wrapped up or stopped behind the line of scrimmage. Elton is looking to be the biggest spark in the Ganado offense, so don’t be surprised when you hear about this small town kid putting up numbers.
