We have reached the official start of the season with Week 1 games in the book. But as they say, the show must go on and we will finish out our previews as we have done in recent weeks. With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin. Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach. Eli Morris - Bedford In all, Bedford’s Eli Morris had over 800 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns last year. The Class of 2021 Morris ran for 780 yards, averaging six yards per rush. He also caught 10 passes for another 62 yards. On defense, 30 of his 37 tackles were solo stops including three for loss. Morris also returned three kickoffs for touchdowns, averaging nearly 29 yards per return. Augustin McNeill - East Union East Union quarterback Augustin McNeill produced 20 touchdowns last year, including 10 in the air. McNeill threw for 640 yards, averaging 12 yards per completion. He also had 331 yards rushing, posting almost six yards per rush with 10 TDs to lead the team. As the punter, McNeill averaged over 41 yards per kick and also converted five two-point attempts. [player_tooltip player_id="23833" first="Seth" last="Malcom"] - Fremont-Mills Fremont-Mills Class of 2021 standout [player_tooltip player_id="23833" first="Seth" last="Malcom"] is well known by now. But you cannot just pass him over when talking about the team or district. Malcom, who accepted an offer to Nebraska, is coming off a junior season in which he ran for 1,645 yards and scored 29 touchdowns, averaging over 12 yards per carry. He also caught six passes for 62 yards. On defense, though, is where he really stood out, racking up over 70 tackles with 16 being for loss and 3.5 sacks. Malcom also picked off three passes, taking one back for a score and had a punt return for another TD. Cullen Wood - Lenox Lenox was a strong run team in 2019, racking up over 3,200 yards and 55 TDs on the ground. However, 1,000-yard rushers Drew Venteicher and Colton Gordon have graduated. But have no fear, as quarterback Cullen Wood is back. Wood completed 27 of 62 passes for 677 yards with 14 touchdowns, averaging an incredible 25 yards per completion. He had just three picks, sporting a quarterback rating over 135. On the ground, Wood added 191 yards rushing. He also made a handful of tackles on defense and had two interceptions, returning one for a TD. Tyler Hensley - Sidney Sidney’s Tyler Hensley is coming off a strong offensive season. Hensley ran for 758 yards with eight touchdowns while adding 14 receptions for 136 yards and two more scores as a receiver. He averaged five yards per rush and nearly 10 yards per reception. On defense, Hensley had 38.5 tackles with 26 being solo stops and three forced turnovers.
