Jackson Akins Jackson Akins 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Desert Vista | 2023 AZ , 2023, QB, 6’1” 165 lbs., Desert Vista
The Arizona quarterback group performed extremely well throughout the day and Akins was another one of the young ones that showed out. He has a smooth and fluid drop back and shows good technical footwork maneuvering around the pocket. Good ability to feel pressure, get outside the pocket, while keeping his eyes down field to find an open target. Liked the tight and compact release he showed during drills.
Brendan Anderson Brendan Anderson 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Mountain Ridge | 2023 State AZ , 2023, QB, 6’1” 170 lbs., Mountain Ridge
A good young QB with a lot of different tools. Showed he can work quickly and smoothly around the pocket before setting his feet and delivering a strong accurate ball. Liked the way he can throw just as well on the run as in the pocket. Flashed his technical training with clean footwork and throwing mechanics. Very confident passer and love the way the ball comes out of his hand with a tight trajectory. Good arm strength and velocity at all three depths and knows when to take a little off to deliver a catchable ball. Will be one to watch in the 2023 class.
Deric English Deric English 6'4" | 210 lbs | WR Saguaro | 2023 State AZ , 2023, WR, 6’3” 205 lbs., Mountain Ridge
Great measurements right out of the gate at the showcase for a 2023 ATH at 6’3 205 lbs., and a 75 inch wingspan. Picked up an offer from Morgan State recently but this kid is an absolute stud that has high D1 potential and ability. He’s a great athlete with a combination of speed, strength, and body control that isn’t often seen in players his age. Has the ability to play multiple positions at the next level depending on he develops. Just scratching the surface in terms of his upside but no matter where he plays he will be one of the top Arizona recruits in the 2023 class.
Derreck Evans, 2023, WR, 5’6” 165 lbs., Desert Vista
A developing young athlete that can play on either side of the ball. Has a strong compact frame right now that will interesting to see how he develops. Showed good raw athleticism with good leg drive out of his breaks. Still young in terms of technique and fundamentals but he showed potential with his natural talent. Would like to see more film to further evaluate.
Will Galvan, 2023, DB, 5’6” 150 lbs., Cactus
Galvan demonstrated his natural athleticism and versatility at the event. He showed good speed and leg drive off the ball with quick acceleration and change of direction. Showed good ability in coverage on varsity as a freshman where he flashed good closing speed and ball skills. He will be a major impact player for Cactus as he develops and adds more game experience.
Jake Julian, 2023, WR, 5’9” 150 lbs., Mountain Ridge
Worked with the wide receiver group but looked like he would transition well to defense. Performed well in the star drill where he could show his quick burst and explosive first step off the ball. Ran good technical routes and tracked the ball well in the air.
