Here are a few Walton Raiders to know for the 2020 season.
Zach Roszman – QB – Class of 2022
The 6-foot-3 205-pounder has come a long way since taking over at quarterback at the end of his freshman year in 2018. Now, he’s ready to lead the Raiders back to a deep playoff run. He’s been shown interest from Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, but his arm talent should earn him an impressive offer sheet down the road. He’s got a live arm, throws a great deep ball, and will have an opportunity to carry the ball and show how mobile he is as a junior. He’s working hard at turning his hips into his throws and his overall pocket presence. Look for Roszman to enjoy some new weapons on offense this year and put up some great numbers, leading to offers at the end of the season.
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA – Defensive Back – Class of 2022
There may not be a hotter prospect in Georgia right now than Walton junior, Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA . The younger brother of Georgia Tech defender Derrik Allen, Marcus is close to 6-foot-3 180-pounds with great length and playmaking ability. Allen really shined last year in coverage, holding his own against older receivers each week. He closes on the ball well, he has active hands, he shows strong instincts in coverage, and he reacts quickly against the run. He knows how to be physical and make tackles in the open field. He has extremely fluid hips and is constantly working on his craft each and every day. He’s fundamentally sound and one of the top young 2022 cornerbacks in the country. In the past few weeks, Allen has earned offers from Georgia, Iowa, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Virginia.
AJ Brown – Athlete – Class of 2022
Walton’s biggest weapon in 2022 has to be safety/running back AJ Brown. The 6-foot-0 175-pounder is an excellent athlete who is coming off a really strong sophomore season where he was 2nd on the team in tackles and picked off three passes from his free safety spot. He’s put on more mass this spring and really takes care of his body. He’ll play both ways for the Raiders this fall as he will rush the ball on offense this year as a junior. Look for his offer sheet to expand more and more after an impressive junior season.
Nic Hester – ATH – Class of 2021
Walton’s new weapon this year is senior WR/DB/KR, Nic Hester. Devin Hester’s nephew, Nic has good size on him at 6-foot-1 165-pounds. He’s quick, shifty, and shows reliable hands on both sides of the ball. His future might be in the secondary, but Hester is a guy who will certainly help in the passing game on offense. His dad played defensive back for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the younger Hester shows the same type of speed and playmaking ability. He doesn’t hold any offers as he comes from a small program, but he’ll be able to make a lot of plays and catch some eyes from scouts this fall.
