As the 2021 recruiting class is nearing the end, here are some of the up and coming juniors who have caught my eye.
[player_tooltip player_id="27564" first="Sean" last="FitzSimmons"] Defensive Tackle 6’2 275 – Central Valley HS
Sophomore Analysis: Sean does lack some size right now but has a good frame. Has a good get off. He shows twitch and uses his hands well. Has good bend. He shows good speed and good change of direction. He had an extremely productive 2019 season with 133 tackles, 52 solo, 9 sacks, and 52 QB hurries. Overall, Sean shows to be a really good player who has a lot of potential. As he continues to grow and develop, he could become one of the top players out of the WPIAL.
[player_tooltip player_id="27581" first="Brandon" last="Lawhorn Moore"] Offensive Tackle 6’5 300 – Kiski Area
Sophomore Analysis: Brandon is a big kid for a sophomore. He looks athletic. He has a strong first punch and drives feet on contact. He is very physical and shows to finish plays. Shows great ability to get to 2nd level and make the block. Lacks technique in pass protection but plays with good leverage. Overall, Brandon is a good player with size and physicality. He should only get better these next two years.
[player_tooltip player_id="27565" first="Lorenzo" last="Jenkins"] Wide Receiver 6’2 160 – Fox Chapel HS
Sophomore Analysis: Lorenzo has good size. Has a good release off the ball. Shows to be a good route runner. Tracks and adjust to the ball well with the ability to high point. Very good ball skills, he catches the ball naturally with his hands. He lacks overall speed, which might be the downfall of becoming a Power 5 player to a lower level D-I player. Overall, Lorenzo is a good player and athlete, and I cannot wait to see how he produces this upcoming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="27577" first="JD" last="Younger"], Safety 5’11 190 – Central Catholic
Sophomore Analysis: JD looks a little undersized. Shows good break and acceleration. Very physical kid, not afraid to hit you and a good tackler. He is quicker than fast. There are some questions about him, like his ball skills. Overall, JD is a really good young player. If he grows and continues to produce at a high level these next two years, there is no question he could become a potential Power 5 player.
[player_tooltip player_id="27596" first="Pharoh" last="Fisher"] Athlete 5’10 167 – Imani Christian Academy
Sophomore Analysis: Pharoh has good size. He shows quickness and good speed. On defense, he shows the ability to accelerate and track down the ballcarrier. He shows to be physical and looks to be a good tackler. On offense when playing receiver, he can track the ball, high point, and catch with his hands. The competition isn’t the best. Overall, Pharoh is a good player and athlete. I am interested to see what he can do this season.
