Recruiting Report: Jaden Kolker- RB/LB- Renville County West (2021)

The Renville County West Jaguars had season to remember in 2019, and undefeated regular season and qualifying for the State Tournament for the first time in school history. The Jaguars had a solid lineup across the board with athletes that had plenty of speed and power to make a sturdy 9-man team. <strong>Jaden Kolker </strong>stands at 5'11", 205 lbs. from the RB and LB positions and had a whale of a season for RCW. Offensively, he had 161 carries for 840 yards and six TD's rushing, while also recording 32 catches for 419 yards and two TD's receiving. On the defensive side, he put up 172 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Kolker also earned an All-District Academic spot, 2019 District Defensive MVP and earned a spot on the All-State Team. While watching his film, he is very explosive from LB, he gets his read then gets to the spot and runs through the ball-carrier. He also has a very high motor and runs a lot of kids down from behind when the play is away from him. Offensively, he is a great pass-blocker for his QB in the backfield, along with that, he has a good set of hands, power, and decent speed. He does not dance with a defender too much, just puts his head down and runs through him. I got the chance to talk with Jaden for his thoughts and goals for the Jaguars' 2020 season. Check it Out! <em>PRZ: Hello Jaden, tell us a little about yourself and when you began playing football.</em> Kolker: I will be a Senior at RCW in 2020. I play LB, RB and a little bit at TE. Football has been a big part of my life since 3rd grade when I started to play. <em>PRZ: What do you love about the game?</em> Kolker: I love the physicality and speed of the game, along with the mental understanding of the game. Knowing you can tackle someone on the field, pick them up and do it again for four quarters is a lot of fun to me. <em>PRZ: How was your 2019 season for your team and you personally?</em> Kolker: The 2019 season was amazing for us, after finishing 1-7 in 2018, we bounced back and went 11-1 with our first ever State Appearance. We ran into Hancock (State Runner-up) in the first round of State and suffered our only loss on the season. Personally, I had a productive season. I broke my ankle in Week 2 in 2018, so this was my comeback year. 2019 we changed the mindset and atmosphere in the locker room and it carried over onto the field. <em>PRZ: What are your expectations for 2020 for you and your team?</em> Kolker: After finishing 1-7 in 2018, we just wanted to get to .500 and win a playoff game or two. After making State in 2019, we are hungry for a State Title. Personally, I wanted to make 150 tackles, since I had 144 as a freshman. I felt more confident coming back off my injury. <em>PRZ: What's it like playing for RCW?</em> Kolker: Playing with my teammates and coaches at RCW has been amazing. There's is always a teammate asking "Hey, you want to meet at the field?" or "who has the card to get into the weight room?" The coaches are always open and supportive of us, They will even strap pads up and practice with us if they have to. <em>PRZ: How has your recruiting been? Is there anyone you are in contact with? What are you looking for in a college program?</em> Kolker: My recruiting has gone pretty well so far. I have a few offers from D3 schools and I'm in contact with a few other schools as well. I'm hoping Senior season will bring up a few more schools before I make a final decision. I'm looking for a program with a hardworking, dedicated atmosphere with a close team bond. I also want the environment where the players and coaches are fired up and have the desire and heart to learn and be better.
