As we continue to count down our top prospects, we’ve reached the 70s. The guys in this range could end up making big moves in the rankings with strong senior seasons. Several of these players hold offers from Group of Five or even Power Five schools.
80. [player_tooltip player_id="28512" first="Savone" last="Tutt"], 5’10 180, Ath., Pamlico County
Tutt is one of the best players on the coast on both sides of the ball. He projects more as a running back at the next level but also plays linebacker and it’s easy to tell. Even on offense, he plays with impressive aggression and seeks out contact. Tutt is hard to bring down one-on-one and rarely goes down on first contact. He holds offers from Charlotte, Georgia Tech and Bowling Green.
79. [player_tooltip player_id="28511" first="Coen" last="Sutton"], 6’2 190, WR, Hough
Sutton is a big-bodied receiver that excels at getting open. He’s an excellent route runner — especially for a player his height — and uses his body well to shield defenders. Sutton plays on a stacked offense, so he doesn’t get the most touches in the state, but he makes the most of his opportunities. He recently committed to Appalachian State.
78. [player_tooltip player_id="28510" first="William" last="Thomas"], 6’2 285, DL, Sanderson
Thomas may be 285 pounds, but he carries that weight remarkably well and wins most often with a great first step and lateral quickness. The Sanderson product holds offers from Duke, Tennessee and South Carolina, among others. With a big senior year, he’s a candidate to shoot up our board with a bit more refinement in his pass rushing.
77. [player_tooltip player_id="28509" first="Jalen" last="Newman"], 5’11 175, DB, Weddington
Newman is one of the best cornerbacks in the state when the ball is in the air, as evidenced by his 29 pass breakups as a junior. Newman has the speed to keep just about any receiver in the state in front of him and the versatility to play zone, press or man. Newman holds offers from Dartmouth and other high academic schools as well as several Group of Five schools.
76. [player_tooltip player_id="28508" first="Emerson" last="Martin"], 6’5 250, DL, Riverside
Martin is incredibly athletic for his size, displaying an excellent first step and making his fair share of big plays as a junior. His play attracted the attention of several Group of Five schools but we think he could earn a Power Five offer with a strong senior season.
