Here are a few prospects who have seen their recruitment take off so far this year.
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA – Walton – 2022 DB
The long, 6-foot-2 165-pound cornerback might be the hottest prospect in Cobb County right now. Named 2nd-team All-Region as a sophomore, the Walton cornerback earned an offer from Tennessee this week after a big performance in this past weekend’s MVP camp. Allen has also picked up recent offers from Rutgers, Virginia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Boston College, and Wake Forrest.
As a prospect, Allen is a long, rangy DB with good length and quickness. His brother is former Notre Dame signee and current Georgia Tech defensive back, Derrik Allen. Marcus is constantly improving and has the look of one of the top young defensive backs in the state. More offers are likely coming his way before the season starts going.
Christen Miller – Cedar Grove- 2022 DL
One of the more interesting defensive line prospects in the peach state, Miller is an athletic interior lineman at 6-foot-5 275-pounds who really shined in last month’s Under Armour underclassmen camp. Miller showed good quickness in drills and moves really well for a guy his size. As he continues to bulk up and add muscle, Miller could turn into one of the country’s top defensive line prospects with a big junior season.
As far as his recruitment goes, things really took off in January where Miller picked up offers from LSU, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, and Arkansas. The South Carolina Gamecocks extended an offer earlier this week, and they likely won’t be the last. There are still some major programs that haven’t pulled the trigger, but Miller might earn them all when it’s all said and done.
JaDarian Rhym – Valdosta – 2022 CB
Just a few weeks ago Rhym was one of the more underrated prospects in the state. He was gaining lots of interest, but schools just weren’t willing to extend an offer. That’s all changed in just a matter weeks as Rhym has earned recent offers from Alabama and Georgia.
At 6-foot-1 170-pounds, Rhym is an athletic cornerback with a great frame. He still needs to add more mass, but his length and natural athleticism has peaked the interest from some big-time programs in the last few weeks. He closes on the ball well, he’s physical, and his ball skills have really come a long way. More offers will start flooding in sooner than later.
Mykel Williams Mykel Williams 6'5" | 255 lbs | DL Hardaway | 2022 State GA – Hardaway – 2022 DE
Williams is already known as one of the top prospects in the country, and he has the offer list to prove it. The elite 6-foot-4 255-pound defensive end had a massive month of April, earning offers from LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Southern Cal, Florida State, Penn State, and Oklahoma. The home-state Georgia Bulldogs offered in January, and his recruitment took off from there.
Notre Dame was Williams’ most recent offer, and it certainly won’t be his last. Williams is one of the state’s top pass rushers due to his upper body strength and above average mobility for someone his size. He lives in the backfield, and he’ll be one of the state’s top overall prospects in the 2022 class.
