Production, Talent, but Under-Recognized

With the lack of amateur or professional sports really starting to take a toll on people, various trends, discussions, and other graphics have been used on Twitter to stimulate conversation and fill the void that live sports have left us in. The newest one of these trends is the featured picture of this article, and has been used in all kinds of areas. Luckily, this graph fits perfectly with some of the underrated studs in the state and PrepRedzoneWI will be listing some of the most under-recognized 2021 recruits in the state - no matter their position. When I say under-recognized by the way, I mean by college football teams and coaches. We’ll also breakdown their film a little bit and show why they are indeed so productive and talented. I hope you enjoy! [player_tooltip player_id="30880" first="Logan" last="Kobus"] (Pulaski) P/OL/DL. @KobusLogan . 6’5, 225 lbs. 2019 All-State Large School HM, 2019 All-Region, 2019 First Team All-Conference OL. Offer from UWRF. Pulaski’s do-it-all Kobus is such a dynamic football player that I am really surprised he isn’t getting more college recognition. Plays DL, OL, Punts, and kicks, and does them all really well. Big kid with a great frame to add weight as well. A strong blocker on the OL with good hand-placement, Kobus flashes a ton of talent at the DL position and has a quick first-step, can recognize and diagnose plays quickly, and has a high-motor with good tackling ability. Also has the strongest leg in the state and would make a heckuva punter at a four-year institution. Junior Year [player_tooltip player_id="30889" first="Mason" last="Wiesner"] (Manawa Little Wolf) QB. 6’2, 190 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region. 1,000 point scorer in basketball. Put up monster numbers in 2019 with 2,341 passing yards and 26 TDs and 695 rushing yards and 8 TDs. Dangerous read-option QB who has a strong arm and make a throws in the pocket, on the move, or from any additional crazy angle that happens during a football game. Playmaker with the ball in his hands who can run really well too. Hasn’t tweeted about any college interest. Junior Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30827" first="Sylvere" last="Campbell"] (Martin Luther) WR. 6’2, 205 lbs. @SylvereCampbel5 . 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region, 2019 First Team All-Conference. Recorded 61 catches for 1,071 yards and 16 TDs while also playing defense. The first play of his Hudl Campbell goes full Odell Beckham Jr. with a one-handed snag, and it’s easy to see that the Martin Luther product is a big-sized wideout who can box out DBs and has the hops to pluck the ball right out from them. Also explosive once he has the ball, and regularly makes defenders look silly trying to corral him in the open field. Very very high upside as a prospect. Hasn’t recorded any collegiate interest. Junior SZN Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30846" first="Riley" last="Krenke"] (Manawa Little Wolf). WR. @KrenkeRiley 6’2, 175 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region. Caught 64 balls for 1,179 yards and 16 TDs. A long, smooth wideout who relies on speed to beat you as a receiver, can adjust to the ball well, and has some great hands. Has no problem making contested catches, either. Hasn’t reported any college interest on his Twitter. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30799" first="Adam" last="Thompson"] (Northwestern) DL. 6’2, 245 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region, 2019 First Team All-Conference DL, 2019 Second Team All-Conference OL. Last season posted 74 tackles, 19 TFL, 5 sacks, 1 FF. Moves super well and is honestly more of a speed-rush guy at 250 lbs., Thompson hits the heck out of you and is relentless in his pursuit of the football as well as to get off blocks. I just really really likes how he moves, he’s a big athlete. Junior Season [player_tooltip player_id="30974" first="Zack" last="Dolson"] (Lodi) P. 6’0, 185 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region. Couldn’t find any updated or a Twitter, but definitely the second best Punter in the state. [player_tooltip player_id="30975" first="Ismael" last="Diaz"] (Edgerton) K. 5’9, 150 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region. @IsmaelDiazjr2 .Conference Special Teams POY. Went 47 for 50 on PATs with two of them blocked. Went 6-10 on FGs with two bad holds and makes from 20, 24, 34, 22, 27, 33. Kicked 11 touchbacks on KO. Has received recruiting graphics from Loras College, Minn St-Mankato, Winona State. One of the three best kickers in the state with leg strength, accuracy, and the ability to do KOs, PATs, and/or FGs. Junior Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30976" first="Jackson" last="Pettit"] (St. Croix Central) K. 6’2, 180 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School HM, 2019 All-Region. Standout basketball player. [player_tooltip player_id="30852" first="Riley" last="Christensen"] (Belmont) ATH. 6’2, 220 lbs. @RileyChrist4 . 2019 WFCA 8-Player All-State, 2019 All-Region. In 2019 rushed 250 times for 1,960 yards and 30 TDs and passed 50-107 for 854 and 11 TDs. Also had 6 receptions for 211 yards and 3 TDs. Also had 99 tackles, 3 sacks, 8 PBUs, 5 interceptions, 2 TDs. The best returning 8-player recruit in the nation, Christensen can play any position on the field and play it well. Just a natural football player who seemed unstoppable at times last season for 8-man opponents. Hasn’t reported any college interest. Junior SZN [player_tooltip player_id="30762" first="Kameron" last="Lee"] (Indian Trail) WR. 6’1, 190 lbs. 2019 First Team All-Conference and All-Region. One could argue that a DII scholarship offer from Minnesota State-Mankato would count as significant recognition, but PrepRedzoneWI is so high on his game that we don’t see this as sufficient enough. I love when receivers open their highlight tapes with a hard hit, and Lee just obliterates a DB in the first play of his junior tape and follows it up with a couple plays of pancakes on the CB on the edge that would surely make college coaches intrigued at WORST. Besides the willingness to block Lee is a shifty and electric receiver who runs good routes and is good at creating separation or before or after the football is in the air. Most dangerous with the ball in his hands and is really hard to tackle in the open field. Has really sneaky speed and works by the DBs before they know it. There’s a lot of things I like in his game. Junior Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30837" first="Adam" last="Moen"] (Lake Mills) QB. 6’3, 185 lbs. 2019 All-State Small School, 2019 All-Region. Outstanding athlete who passed for 3,517 yards and 39 TDs and rushed for 960 yards and 21 TDs in 2019, and looked good doing it. Throws an accurate ball with good toucthat is usually right on the money, and looks absolutely awful to try and tackle one on one. Ideal QB frame. Junior Season Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30763" first="Jason" last="Klauck"] (Kiel) DE. @jasonklauck . 6’4, 215 lbs. 2019 All-Region, 2019 First Team All-Conference. Conference Defensive POY. Very powerful for 215 lbs., really good at using his hands and can play multiple positions on the DL, patient and strong tackler. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30750" first="Sammy" last="Smith"] (Madison West) DE. 6’1, 215 lbs. 2019 All-Region and All-Conference. @sammysm76740274 Offer from Upper Iowa University. Long and quick-twitched DE with a great frame who covers a lot of ground in his strides and doesn’t slow down one bit until he gets to the bar-carrier. Good at diagnosing where the ball is as well. Should have at LEAST a lot more NSIC offers. vs. Madison Memorial [player_tooltip player_id="30866" first="Gabe" last="Finley"] (DeForest) RB. 5’11, 210 lbs. @finley_gabe . 2019 All-Region and First Team All-Conference. Only holds an offer from Simpson College and UW-River Falls. In 2019 had 175 carries for 1,364 yards and 16 TDs. Should have a boat-load more offers as he helped lead DeForest to a Wisconsin D3 state championship last season. A Mack truck of a RB who is a strong North-South runner with good vision who will easily run through weak tackle attempts and is also a physical lead blocker. Will have a huge senior season in 2020. Junior Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30873" first="Dyson" last="Klubertanz"] (Franklin) DB. 5’10, 160 lbs. Fast DB who displays good technique and shows a ton of athleticism in the return game for the Sabres and also shows the physicality necessary to be a collegiate defensive back. Good ball skills with a promising break on the ball/receiver once thrown. Looks particularly strong in zone-coverage and does a great job reading the receivers and the QBs eyes. Junior SZN Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30898" first="Gabe" last="Sporle"] (Mineral Point) DL/OL. 6’1, 225 lbs. Conference Lineman of the Year, All-Region. Hasn’t reported any offers but had junior day invites from Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth, Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Really strong for his size, super aggressive and physical at both the DL and OL position with a very high motor. Junior SZN [player_tooltip player_id="31006" first="Derek" last="Wiest"] (Slinger) 6’0, 180 lbs. Doesn’t have any updated highlights or a Twitter. [player_tooltip player_id="30842" first="Ryan" last="Verstegen"] (Little Chute) LB/SS. 5’11, 205 lbs. @VerstegenRyan . 2x All-Region, 2x All-Area, 2x First Team All-Conference, Conference Defensive POY. Posted 118 tackles, 17 TFLs, 4 sacks in 2019. Just a heat-seeking missile of a tackler who covers ground as well as any defender in the state, Verstegen can go sideline-to-sideline and carries a TON of pop in his 205 lb. frame. Can easily play scholarship ball. Junior Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="30916" first="Will" last="Ockler"] (Menomonie) LB/RB. 5’11, 190 lbs. Ran a laser timed 4.59 40-yard dash and was a state qualifier in the 100 M and 200 M dash as a sophomore. Electric with the ball in his hands. Do-it-all player for Menomonie who could play a variety of positions in college. Junior Season Highlights Nick Baudhuin (Southern Door) Doesn’t have updated highlights. [player_tooltip player_id="30879" first="Ben" last="Redlin"] (Pulaski) RB. Productive ball-carrier with good size and the ability to run through you or around you. Junior Season
