Powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas Is Ready To Defend Its State Title
Moments after beating previously unbeaten St. Louis High of Hawaii in the Geico Champions Bowl days before Christmas, head coach Roger Harriot and his unbeaten Raiders turned their attention to the 2020 season.
While the road has been tough for everyone with the pandemic, this program has used its discipline to ensure that every returning player worked out on their own – and in the process – kept in shape just in case.
With this program elevating NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor to Defensive Coordinator and former St. Thomas standout quarterback Wesley Carroll (Mississippi State & FIU) to co- Offensive Coordinator, there was plenty of enthusiasm around campus before Covid-19 scattered everyone in different directions.
Key losses happen every year, but losing quality offensive linemen, receivers and defensive playmakers put this program in a tough position. But this is St. Thomas, and reloading is a specialty.
Among the new faces that fans will see includes: receivers Jake Harrington and Bralon Brown, offensive linemen Marco Fugar and Gunnar Hansen, and defensive standouts in University of Michigan linebacker commit Jaydon Hood, Alabama defensive end commit Dallas Turner and defensive end R.J. Sorensen.
This is a program that will start the year as the No. 1 team in Florida, but they will have plenty of competition along the way.
