These two players are two of the best dual threat QBs in the state, heading into 2020. We wanted to highlight their accomplishments, and preview what is to come this season. [player_tooltip player_id="20203" first="Tyler" last="Macon"] (East St. Louis HS)- Slender, trim, proportioned frame with some definition. Good footwork and body control in the pocket. Shows good processing and ability to mirror feet with eyes in order to get body square to each WR, as he goes through reads. Displays good pocket presence, he will sit in the pocket and allow routes to develop, but can slide laterally or step up to elude. Good motion, short, tight, and couples it with a quick snap release that allows the ball to come out clean. Good play strength both upper and lower body, uses hips, core torque, and weight transition to generate good zip on all throws. Very good accuracy, puts the ball in catchable spots for WRs to both protect themselves and also pick up YAC. Very good mobility outside the pocket, he couples COD, lateral agility, acceleration, and foot quickness together in order to be very effective as a runner. He can consistently make the first defender miss, while also maintaining good play strength in order to finish runs. His foot speed allows him to be a big play threat as a runner, and he is a home run threat from anywhere on the field. Overall, a top dual-threat QB in the state who has day one starting potential at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="20223" first="Kaleb" last="Garner"] (Kenwood HS)- Slender, trim, proportioned with definition. Good processing and footwork off the snap, in order to quickly read the defense and know where to go with the ball. Good vision to get to second read. Displays good pocket presence to use quick lateral movements to elude. Short, tight motion with a good release at the throw point that allows the ball to come out clean. Shows good play strength with good core torque to generate zip, and allow him to make the intermediate to deep throws. Solid accuracy, can get the ball in tight windows. Very good mobility, with acceleration/burst, lateral agility, and COD to consistently make the first defender miss, and his accleration allows him to quickly transition out of cuts. Overall, a dynamic player who has the traits and ability to be a playmaker at the next level.
