Recruiting Report: Caden Dollar, Fossil Ridge 2021

Fossil Ridge’s [player_tooltip player_id="22612" first="Caden" last="Dollar"] has put a lot of time and effort into building a reputation for himself as one of the toughest and most dangerous high school linebackers in Colorado. That’s starting to pay off for the Class of 2021 recruit. On Tuesday, Dollar received his first official scholarship offer to play football in college. It came from Colorado School of Mines. “It’s really great. It’s really a blessing,” Dollar said. “To be honest, I never could have gotten there on my own. I know it’s because of the Lord and not because of me. All my trainers, I could not have gotten it without them. It feels incredible to know that someone wants you to play football for them and help you live your dream.” As a junior in 2019, Dollar led the Fossil Ridge defense with 113 tackles for an average of 11.3 per game, including seven for a loss. Standing six feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, he plays with violence and has a mentality that he wants to “destroy” an opposing player on every play. Dollar, a team captain, also has good speed for a linebacker, recently clocked at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash and hoping to improve that mark. He also carries a 3.59 GPA and takes pride having intangibles that make his team better. “I am really trying to do whatever I’ve got to do to get there,” Dollar said. “One thing I think I bring is leadership. I really think I can make players better and I enjoy relationships. It’s just about saying you’re on the team but how you can love the guys on the team.” Despite having several collegiate 2021 recruits like Dollar, Texas A&M-bound offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="22518" first="Trey" last="Zuhn"], tight end [player_tooltip player_id="22536" first="Tanner" last="Arkin"] (Colorado State) and running back Chris Bowerfind, the Sabercats posted a 2-8 record and went winless in Front Range League play. Dollar expects his team to improve that mark significantly when and if football returns in the fall. “I think we’re going to be the best that Fossil Ridge football has ever been,” Dollar said. “We probably have about four or five D-I guys but you have to have a lot more than that and we do.
