Catching up With 2022 RB Trevor Burnett

&nbsp; [caption id="attachment_21497" align="alignleft" width="348"] Glenbard South RB [player_tooltip player_id="20872" first="Trevor" last="Burnett"][/caption] <p style="text-align: left">Glenbard South high school has one of the state’s best running backs in the 2022 class in [player_tooltip player_id="20872" first="Trevor" last="Burnett"]. The 5’8 180 pound back has been on varsity since his freshman season and has played very well. Burnett has exceptional burst when spotting a seam that he combines with game-breaking speed. He has soft hands and is a natural pass catcher. He can line up in the slot at wideout and could have a potential future there at the next level. On the defensive side he lined up at cornerback and was a natural. QB’s often had trouble trying to throw his way. Burnett had a breakout 2019 season and helped the Raiders reach the 5a playoffs before being eliminated by 5a runner-up St. Rita in round one. However, Trevor wasn’t satisfied with 2019, “This season I showed everyone what I was capable of and put my name out there. My team and I did good this season, but it wasn’t what we wanted at the end, and that was to go far in the playoffs and win state. That’s the ultimate goa!”</p> <p style="text-align: left">Burnett is ready for the 2020 season and is finding ways to stay in shape and be ready for when summer camp rolls around, “I’ll do a lot of pushups, run some routes, and run the hill.” He has big expectations entering 2020 and rightfully so after a huge sophomore campaign, “My goal this season is to go far in the playoffs &amp; combine for 2,000 yards with 10-15 touchdowns.” Trevor told me he’s hearing from multiple Division 1 programs, including the likes of NIU, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. He’s still waiting on his first offer, but I expect that to change after his junior season. However, there are two schools that would be near the top if they came into play, “My dream school is OSU or Georgia because growing up, that’s all I watched.” Burnett right now is easily one of the best backs in 2022 and could be one of the best RB’s in the state regardless of class. This guy is a big play waiting to happen, and I think 2020 is going to be his year. His team, the Glenbard South Raiders, returns some talented football players, including our #11 overall LB [player_tooltip player_id="20325" first="Jeremy" last="Gelino"]. The Raiders have a great coach who has made them a perennial playoff team in coach Ryan Crissey. Look for South to take another big step forward, led by their running back [player_tooltip player_id="20872" first="Trevor" last="Burnett"].</p>
